COME ON, BBS
You have got to give all the credit to the D.

Dexter Reid? Matt Giordano? who the h*ll are these guys?

Our front 7 knew what they were dealing with in the secondary, and they stepped up. Especially our dogs, Dwight and Mathis.

And, one more thing, HOW ABOUT THAT ROB MORRIS? Unlike Gardner, at least the commentary included Morris's name.

Rob played well. Reid's defelection in the endzone was money. Giordano was solid. Freeney finally showed up. Booger made a difference in the middle.

However, Cato June is still god awful bad. He was embarrassed tonight.

Yes, the no-name safeties made plays
But my point is that those plays weren't expected by our big boys. And, they showed us that they got a pair on them.

And, I don't know if I'd go as far as
saying that June was awful. He was insonsistant. His weakness is not wrapping up. But, I love the way he shoots gaps and forces the runner to change direction.

Theisman
Wow, do I hate Joe Theisman? Yes I do.

Morris....
Was in on about every tackle. He has a nose for the runner and the size and agressiveness to bring him down. June missed that big one, but he came back and made two nice ones in the backfield.  I forgave him.  He'll play better with Morris out there.  Morris gives them a chance to go somewhere in the playoffs.

That game looked exactly like a regular season game last year.  It was nice to finally watch one where my butt was taking bites out of the couch.

And Chad Johnson was right...it wasn't a shoot-out.

June
I thought Cato June overall played extremely well. he should have gone low on Rudi Johnson to take out his legs, but there were 2 or 3 Colts standing around who should have helped bring Rudi down. That was a team failure as well. June showed heart and fire in blitzing a few plays later to stop Rudi for a three yard lose. He also lead the team in tackles with 13.

I thought Morris played well except on the Rudi TD. He attacked the wrong gap and if you watch the replay you can see him pounding his fist into the ground as the TD is scored.

a better effort overall
after the last two **painful** weeks that was a much easier game to watch.  these are the colts that can beat anyone when they show up.   Cincy doesn't have the greatest defense, but they have been playing very well the last four weeks - including a shutout.

our D was much better too.  much as I have disliked Rob Morris... he did have a good game.  He is certainly a team player and plays where he is needed. was impressed with Giordano too..  he made mistakes, but he can HIT.  and he seems to be improving with more playing time.

Wilkins should be shot.  all he has to do is return punts and he blew it big.

overall though this and watching the jags lose to give us the division takes away the sour taste of last weeks loss out of my mouth. (though did anyone else notice how wet the field was?  players  were splashing when they hit the turf.  makes you wonder what other games the jags were playing..)

GREAT GAME...
GREAT GAME...

When the REAL Indianapolis Colts show up, there isn't a team in the NFL... including the Chargers... that can beat the Colts.

I am salivating over playing the Chargers in the playoffs. A win against the Chargers in any fashion would be historic and most definately a defining moment for the record books!

Not there yet....
This defense needs to play like this, or even better, the next two games to show me something.

Make no mistake, we will have our hands full in the playoffs, but if we play with emotion and we play OUR game we will have a chance.

This includes limiting turnovers or even in fact, making them null and void. This includes cutting down on penalties....and it includes our offense executing (catching the ball, not abandoning the run, protecting Manning)....etc. etc.
