Bye Week Blues- Open Thread

Lots of great games today, and if you've got the Bye Week Blues, take comfort in the fact that you can just watch the games today and not worry (as I do) about the Colts later in the day.

For me, I'll be watching the Pats and Cowboys game later, and I may check out the Redskins v. Packers game as well.

If you're watching a game, talk about it here.

Insight into the Cheifs O
One of the announcers said he had talked to Huard before the game and Huard told him they aren't really a team the audibles. Huard said he's not going to go up to the line and change the play or protections.
I'm not one to jump on coaches but, why would you not change plays or protections based on the D. Herm Edwards is not a good coach.

VY
I just saw Vince Young try and run with it when his first read was covered (big surprise I know). He then promptly ran into Lendall White, almost fumbled, and took a sack.

Great job VY!

You have to give Young
credit just for getting up after that one. Lendale was at 260lbs at the start of the season. That's a whole lot of runningback to run into, I'm surprised Vince Young's still in the game. Just shows you what a warrior he is.

what?
What the hell are you talking about?  He didn't even run into him that hard.  Vince Young just sucks.
Go Colts!

I suppose
A real "warrior" wouldn't run into a slow 260lbs fat ass in the first place.

by MasterRWayne on Oct 14, 2007 2:02 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

He probably thought
he could run straight through Lendale's fat ass. VY isn't the smartest football player out there.

You are 100% right.

Typical
Typical Haters! You know VY is gonna be good and you are scared of what he will become!

Hey
I was pulling for the Titans at the end of that game. Mostly because I wanted to be able to say "Kerry Collins just wins games", but I was still rooting for them.

by shake n bake on Oct 15, 2007 9:22 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

ok
You've been saying "gonna be" since he started.  When is he actually going to be good?  He's getting progressively worse if anything.
Go Colts!

Hater part 2
KingRichard! This shows how little you actually watch football, other than your colts. Youngs passer rating is up over last year and until the last game (which was his worst) where he threw 3 picks, he was leading the NFL in 4 qtr efficency. He is no Peyton, Palmer, or Brady, but for you to say he is getting worse only shows how biased you are. There are a lot of Colt fans that I like. ( Even BBS that guy is funny ) but you my friend are the definition of a homer and the reason that Colt fans are looked at as arrogant! Do all your friends a favor and actually watch other teams before you comment on them! Have a nice day "King" !
Go Titans!

changed my mind
I'll let the stats speak for themselves.

Total offense, Titans are ranked 24th.
Passing ypg, Titans are ranked 27th.
NFL rank for starting QB, Vince Young is ranked 26th.
Vince Youngs year to date stats: 73/114, 3 tds, 6 ints, 703 yds, rating of 68, 32 rush attempts, 129 yds, 4.0 avg, 1 td, 3 fumbles.

IMO, those are pretty shitty.

Go Colts!

Glad
I am glad you brought those stats up, cause you just proved my point. You can call those "crappy" stats if you want to, but the fact remains you made a statement that had no backbone to it. You said that he has gotten progressivly worse from last year. That statement is false. His rating is up his yds are up and even though you went stat hunting after I called you out to try to prove yourself right, You my friend are still WRONG! He may not be up to what you would call a good qb's standards but he has and is improving. We all can't have Peyton, but stop being such a homer, and admit you were wrong and just being opinionated!
Go Titans!

welp
I proved that he sucks, which is all I really care to prove.  THROUGH FIVE GAMES HIS STATS ARE ON TRACK TO BE WORSE THAN LAST YEAR.  I'm not going make a whole reply of stats because you obviously don't understand them very well.  If you won't to see for yourself go to nfl.com and read up on them ass.  Yeah I sure don't watch any other team except the Colts, but yet I know more about Vince Young than you do.

I feel dirty...
I am sorta kinda cheering for the Cowbabies, and I feel soo unclean.  SO UNCLEAN!

After the game, I may need to flail myself like that albino monk in The Da Vinci Code.

Tom Brady
Gotta give him credit. It's in these games, when he's facing other great QB, that you can clearly see how him and Manning are far above any other QB today. Too bad that, despite the fact that he may bang every hot model in the world, he's a big girly GIRL. Otherwise, I would try harder to put him closer to Manning.

Sweet Jesus, 'bang' is a fucking funny word. I feel like a MilfHunter-like pornographer right now. We do not have such great words in portuguese.

Cleanup needed in the booth
I think the commentators are blowing a load every time Tom Brady completes a pass. but hey, at least the took the time to acknowledge that the defending super bowl champs are undefeated.  Nice to know that someone can at least pretend the Colts still exist.

And what? Dreamy Tom Brady with a fumble?  That obviously wasn't tom brady but someone else in his uniform Jesus Brady would never fumble!

by jdb on Oct 14, 2007 5:19 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

And just when I was writing that
He fumbled, and the Cowgirls got a TD out of it. I just can't be lucky.

if that was interference...
...I'm the Queen of France. Good God. Moss RAN INTO HIM and the defender was already in position.

yeah
These refs suck ass.

by KingRichard on Oct 14, 2007 6:40 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Interference
Yeah, that was a horrible, horrible call; and it came at a critical point in the game. The Patriots won by a lot in the end, but I'm not sure that happens if Moss gets called for offensive pass interference or illegal contact, making the Patriots hard pressed to get a first down. The game stays close and the dynamics change a lot.

Playing what-if is always dubious at best, but it's not like that bogus pass interference call came when the game was already put away.

Also, when Moss dropped the ball in the end zone, the commentators had to see the thing like 50 times before it occurred to them to mention that Moss didn't have control, he was bobbling the thing on the way down. Randy Moss's blinding aura must be even more powerful in the booth.

Does it not look like...
The Patriots try to score passing TD's even when a Rush would be simple, ie. Playaction pass 1st and goal at the 1.

The pats really want to beat peytons record, and I think that brady will.

One week from tomorrow...
we play the Jags on the road.  Can we sweep the South on the road???  The Jags are on a four game winning streak since dropping their opener.

Oh it is going to be a great game.  Too bad we have to wait.  :(

Wow, Vinny Testaverde is still playing... what is with quarterbacks this season?

Did the Pats...
go for it on fourth and goal on the 1 when they were up by two scores with less than a minute left in the game?

I am not sure, I read that at a boxscore because the Simpsons looked like a better choice to watch.

If they did, it reminds me of the Karate Kid:

We do not train to be merciful here. Mercy is for the weak. Here, in the streets, in competition: A man confronts you, he is the enemy. An enemy deserves no mercy.

Hey
how come we only have 4 wins in the standings on the front page? Did I just dream we beat the crap out of the Bucs without 25 percent of our starters?
