How do we get the most from our less than optimal pass rush?

For the rest of the season, but particularly for the anticipated rematch at Foxboro, how do we get the most pass rush out of our depleted D-line?

Remember that fourth quarter in the wretched Pats game?  Freeney was on the sidelines, hell knows why, and the other linemen couldn't apply any pressure. Brady then went and made our defense look like the defense from 2005 that couldn't tackle or stop Stephen Hawking.

To me the lesson from that horrible game is that if the pass rush lets up for even one play, the Cover 2, no matter how good or improved the remaining personnel are, falls apart. For now I don't see how the Colts win the rematch; if given time, Brady's sure to shred us again (barring injury, he definitely has the guns this year) and what's worse this time it'll be done in Coach Belishit's house, and they'll probably do it much earlier than the fourth quarter.  Moreover, it would upset me terribly if they tried to run up the score on us.  And if we were to lose badly, Dungy's too classy to kick Coach Belishit in the balls like he deserves.

Christ, how to avoid?  What lineup should we use?  Do we blitz more?  Who and how often do we blitz?  Do you think Meeks/Dungy can come up with something clever or new? (Yeah, I know, I didn't believe it when I wrote it either.) Any suggestions/ideas? Please provide some hope.  Maybe for starters (and for better field position) we could kill Purnell....

Hmm...
I think Rice will be a big factor and by playoff time he will be getting some good pressure. I don't buy that he is "washed up" as he probably just lost interested in Tampa last year and then with the Broncos this year. I bet that being back with Dungy and on a winner he will have a renewed interest to do well and he showed some good signs Sunday.

As for that pats game...it wasn't really the 4th qtr so much as the big pass to Moss halfway through the qtr and that pass happened because of blown coverage. What some seem to forget is Bethea just before that play had dropped a Brady INT which probably would have iced the game. Take that Moss pass away (or have the colts not blow the coverage) and I doubt the Pats win the game. Oh and if the Colts O was functioning well that game then I doubt the Pats win the game because remember, Brackett picked Brady off early in the 4th and then they had the drive killing penalties after the Pats got that 2nd TD (and 3rd) which pretty much killed the comeback.

As for the jig about if Brady has time he can shred the D...any qb with the time he gets can shred a D. Brady does not do anything magical out there when he has no pressure- guys get open, he throws them the ball. Not Hard.

If they have a rematch I would expect the Colts to blitz Sanders a lot more since they will just go all out. I think they have held Bob back from doing a lot of stuff so far because they do not want him to get injured.

Oh and also remember that the two starting OLBs were out in that Pats game.

Have some faith and don't be sucked into the Pats thumping teams like the Bills and Dolphins and think it will happen to Indy.

and if
and if belicheat keeps playing his starters right to the end and going for it on fourth down to run up the score sooner or later someone will lay a hit on moss or brady that does some serious damage...   i would really watch the pittsburgh game... one of the steelers D might lay a smack down on the pats players whether they are winning or not just to prove a point (and gladly pay a fine if it is ruled a foul)
