Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

And now, all the OTHER games

For those of us stuck at home watching football alone (NOT the way it's supposed to be), here's a spot to yapp about all the other games going on today.

Personally, I'm interested in what the 'Skins can pull out against the Vikings, because Maj. Dad raised me on the Redskins, even though I later defected to the Colts. I was in Washington last week watching the 'Skins hand Li'l Brudder's ass to him. Tee Hee.

The Bears sure put the whoop on the Packers today; they should have rested Brett Favre so they could've pretended "We MEANT to lose to the Bears." That win made my Chicago-bred hubby very happy, but both of us HATE the Cowboys, so the outcome of giving them homefield advantage was an unfortunate side-effect.

And so on...

Anyone going to watch the Pats and the Phins?

Pats/Fins
Watching it now. I'm feeling like this will be the day that Brady breaks the record. He only needs 4 to tie, 5 to break.

On that note, does Brady breaking the single season TD record so soon after Manning devalue it in the same way that having Priest Holmes, then Shaun Alexander, then LaDanian Tomlinson break the RB single-season TD record over the span of a few years? Moreover, does the fact that Manning did it and then basically didn't play the last two games set an artificial ceiling? Like, will we see "Manning could have scored 50+, but he played very sparingly the last two games of the season so he stuck at 49." kind of comments?

Brady is now at 46 with a quick strike to Randy Moss.

"Hey, if you want me to come here, I want to come here. But if you don't, I'm going to beat your butt for 15 years playing in the AFC." -Peyton Manning-

My thoughts
I think whatever Brady ends up with Peyts' 49 is more impressive for a number of reasons:

-did it in fewer games (assuming Brady doesn't get 5 today but he may since right now he is at 3)

-did it in fewer passes

-played better teams

-wasn't throwing it deep in the 4th qtr during blowouts

-didn't have Moss there to save his ass on throws into double teams that should be picked off

Yeah Brady has had a great year but it isn't as good as Manning in 04. I have no doubt if he/they wanted to Peyton could have finished with 55+ tds that season if they used the same mentality as NE is using this season.

What I love is the media will make a bigger deal out of Brady getting the record than they did for Manning and as you said, it is even less impressive now since it was only a couple years old. The media's bias towards Brady sickens me.

I agree...
Manning was playing under more traditional football behavior (not running up score, being conservative health-wise, etc).

Also, I ask you this: Pretend you're neither a Colts fan nor a Pats fan. Who would you rather have join your circle of pals for a beer after work: Peyton Manning, or Tom Brady?

Duhhhh!!!

They switched over from the Colts
to Bengals-Browns. I wasn't that upset, it wasn't good football but it was interesting. The thing that stuck out to me was when Jonathan Joseph picked off a pass for Anderson's 3rd or fourth pick, he sprinted upfield holding the ball with one hand in middle of the ball and the points facing straight up and down. I don't know how he didn't fumble. It was funny looking.

How do y'all feel about the Titans...
Do you think it's better (strategically for the Colts) for the Titans to squeak into the playoffs, or for the Browns to get in?

Interesting...
I just got off of a cruise, and I'm sitting in the Miami airport watching the Pats/Dolphins game.  There are a few Pats fans, and a lot of Fins fans around here.

Interesting setting for sure.  Can't wait to get back to Indy, as I've missed the last 2 Colts games due to the vacation.

What is Minnesota thinking???
Effectively, this IS a playoff game for the Vikes an d the Skins. Where is Minnesota? I smell a touchdown...
