Week Seventeen: Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts- Open Thread

Tennessee Titans (9-6) at Indianapolis Colts (13-2)
AT
Week Seventeen: Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts

Location: RCA Dome  Indianapolis, IN

Kick-off time: 8:15 pm ET

Broadcast: NBC

Key injuries: Well, after being told all week he will start, the Colts decided last minute not to start a player who hasn't seen the field since early November (tip to Bullard47). Ugh! Also out is Ryan Diem, Keiwan Ratliff, Gonzo, Tim Jennings, Raheem Brock, Robert Mathis, and Ben Utecht. Basically, if Tennessee loses with to the guys the Colts will field tonight, they suck and deserve to sit at home for the post-season. Expect a heavy dose of Jim Sorgi in the second half, regardless of the score.

Sitting Marvin really pissing me off because 1) We know he's healthy, and 2) Peyton wants to get some  on-the-field time with him. If we are wrong and Marvin isn't healthy now, then IR him NOW and let's move on. Constantly switching back and forth between starting him and sitting him is A.N.N.O.Y.I.N.G. He should be healthy now. If he isn't, something is really, really wrong. Even if he is remotely healthy, he should play at least a series or two. Makes no damn sense!

For a Titans fan's take on the game, head over to Music City Miracles and read Jimmy and the boys. Here's to a good, clean finale to the regular season with no injuries. Go Colts!

cleveland win
i wonder if marvin NOT starting has anything  to do with  cleveland winning... Tennessee will be a bit desperate to win tonight to get in to the playoffs and dungy may have decided it wasn't worth the risk..

am a bit surprised to see gonzo out... but the others are all no surprise...

No, whether Cleveland won or lost, the Titans
would still have to win.

So Cleveland winning was irrelevant to this game.

I'm assuming
Aromashodu will be the #2.  he played at Auburn and he was signed mid-season, that's about all i know about him.

by schultz950 @ Stampede Blue on Dec 30, 2007 8:23 PM EST up reply actions

heh
that's actually a good question. Expect to see alot of TE Bryan Fletcher and WRs CRAPhonso Thorpe and Devin Aroshamashodishashomashadu (I think I misspelled that ;) heh).

I fully expect not to win this game with all the injuries and the expectation of lots of Sorgi Time. It's just too bad, because I really don't think the Titans deserve to be in the playoffs over Cleveland. Not meant to pick a fight or insult, just don't think so.

P.S. I just heard the Jeff Fisher interview pre-game. Holy shit he sounds like Mr Garrison from South Park. Mmmmmkay.

ugh
well it's pretty obvious that at least early on the Colts aren't going to bother stopping the run.

by jdb on Dec 30, 2007 8:27 PM EST reply actions

ay to put in an effort guys
really, I mean I know the game is essentially meaningless for you but you could at least TRY to stop the run you know. Just a thought.

stats
peyton needs about another 50 yards for 4000 for 8 consecutive seasons... and reggie needs 8 ... no make that 7 catches for his 100....  okay make that 6 more to 100 for reggie..

by bluegirl on Dec 30, 2007 8:39 PM EST reply actions

oh reggie
just go out of bounds. no need to take that hit and then fumble it.

by jdb on Dec 30, 2007 8:43 PM EST reply actions

Why, reggie, why?
Fuckin stupid fumble.

runs like that
VY, VY, VY. Someday, someday soon, runs like that (and taking hits like that at the end of them) are going to fuck up your career or even end it.

Sincerely,

haynesworth hurt
couldn't happen to a nicer guy...  and a terrible loss for the titans if he isn't pulling fisher's usual BS to slow down our offense

aaaand
Haynesworth is back in.

Survey SAYS! : It's Fisher's usual BS

Sorgi
Does he REALLY need to come in anytime soon? To see Manning playing is wonderful, and to see Sorgi playing is like watching a Ravens game. :(

reggie and peyton
well they hit the stats they were probably after... though at the rate he is going reggie could be after the record for most catches in a game.... anyone remember what that one is...

by bluegirl on Dec 30, 2007 9:02 PM EST reply actions

Oh man
The guy in the local ESPN just said that Manning is better than Brady. Nice to hear that. He also said that Manning is maybe the best QB ever, or second only to Marino. ESPN is getting better. At least around here.

yeah unimpressive
yeah a certain nameless team hasn't looked that impressive lately and the networks probably want to start hyping up their playoff games, so all of a sudden the colts are getting attention again... heard a lot of comments about the colts watching various games on sunday ticket today...

all the starters are gone except the o line....  it is now a preseason game...

by bluegirl on Dec 30, 2007 9:17 PM EST reply actions

Wayne's out
If this team was the NEW ENGLAND Colts, he would've stayed to get the record for most catches in a single game. I'm glad we're not. The Colts get the records because they're good, not because they try too hard.

if we needed this win
reggie might have set a record the way he was going... but i'd rather see him out and stay healthy for the playoffs....

by bluegirl on Dec 30, 2007 9:42 PM EST up reply actions

dungy on the sideline
looked worried while reggie was still in after he had pulled peyton....  looks a lot more relaxed now that he is gone.

and vince has to try to throw out of his own endzone.

I got De-Lovely on DVD
I still haven't see it. Do I wait till the game is over, or do I see it now? Is it a good movie anyway?

also on TV
Bourne Supremacy is wrapping up on TBS (oohhhhh High Definition!) followed up by Mission Impossible: 2.  Better than Sorgi Time?

by jdb on Dec 30, 2007 9:31 PM EST up reply actions

Bourne kicks ass
But I rather have Sorgi than Tom Cruise. I guess. Ahmm... That's a good question.

Was wasn't Reid on special teams the entire season? He has added soo much to it. Anyone else see the replays and where they showed Clark and Dungy's reaction to it? lmao

That was a brutal hit.  Is ther ea special teams player of the year award? it'd be hard to give it to someone on such a crappy special teams unit but damn, Reid is a beast.

Tonight on ColtsTV, the grittiest new crime drama on television: Bullitt. Small town cop turned big city private detective hunts down criminals and ball carriers.

(just don't ask me to figure out a romantic comedy starring Jim Sorgi)

by jdb on Dec 30, 2007 11:09 PM EST up reply actions

Seriously?
Is the Colts' JV team really beating the Titans in what should be a playoff game for them?

Normally I would be watching something else, but watching the Titans get hosed on national TV by second and third stringers is the height of entertainment.

Also, that Darrell Reid hit was awesome. The reactions from everyone else were better.

"Hey, if you want me to come here, I want to come here. But if you don't, I'm going to beat your butt for 15 years playing in the AFC." -Peyton Manning-

by MonkeyBusiness on Dec 30, 2007 10:21 PM EST reply actions

WTF was that hit by Reid?
I'm still wondering if that happened. I'm glad I stayed to see how we could do worse than Sorgi at QB backup.

Brackett
I was wondering that myself. I mean honestly, did Brackett go up to Dungy and go "Hey, let me play on Special Teams! It'll be a gas!"

Seriously, this is pathetic. The Titans should be destroying our backups, but they're barely managing anything.

"Hey, if you want me to come here, I want to come here. But if you don't, I'm going to beat your butt for 15 years playing in the AFC." -Peyton Manning-
