DeDe Dorsey ...

Looks like we probably won't be signing Barlow after all. From Colts.com "Sitting Down with Dungy":

Q: The Colts enter the rookie mini-camp with DeDe Dorsey and Kenton Keith as the backup running backs. What makes you feel comfortable about those guys?

A: With DeDe, I remember (then-Minnesota Vikings Head Coach) Denny Green telling me when he was getting ready to play (quarterback) Daunte Culpepper. He hadn't actually played him in a game, but Denny had watched him on the scout team. Denny used to run the scout team the same way I do. Denny would say, `He's ready to go.' He just knew. DeDe's the same way. Just from having him and being in the huddle with him, questions that he asked and the way he would do things for us on the scout team, I've got a lot of confidence in him. I feel like he's going to be ready to go. Kenton, I don't know as much about, but (Colts Scout) Cal Murphy - our guy up in Canada - has said, `This guy can play.' Between the three of those guys (second-year veteran Joseph Addai is the starter), I think we're going to be in pretty good shape.

Looks like DeDe is our guy next year.

And that's who's going to absorb Addia's punishment to keep him fresh for the playoffs?

He was a DB through most of college and that's what he looks like. Rhodes was a vet even if he was small.

I dunno. Looks like Mungro is missing from the line up too. We're going into a season with a running back 'platoon' with a 20-game resume' from the running back corps--all from a second year back.

Wish they would have signed a bigger, mean mutha that thought he could revive his career by challenging Addia for the #1 spot.

Running Back Situation

Also on Colts.com with their interview with Dungy and Polian Colts.com ask them about the Running back situation.

Q: Joseph was asked recently, `Can you carry the load?' He said, `Ask me when the year's over.'

If you ask me, Addai doesn't have much confidence in his own abilities. I doubt that is someone just being humble too.

And with DeDe, on my Madden '07 game, his rating is, I may be wrong, around 60, which really sucks. Yeah I know it's a video game and all, but still, I wouldn't trust him with my laundry...

Take your Madden disc and flip it out the window. For crying out loud, no one is good on Madden until the year after their breakout season. You think Maurice Jones Drew was rated much higher on Madden before?

All Addai needs ....

is a change of pace back. Rhodes is only 5'9" 203 lbs.

So, yes, I'd say DeDe is who they are planning on using to absorb some punishment and keep Addai fresh for the playoffs.

A small back-up will work fine

Rhodes wasn't big and Addai runs with power. Last year he played more when they were close to the goaline. Dorsey's size isn't what I'm worrying about.
