Boston Sports
Growing up in Baltimore, it was natural to be both a Colts and Orioles fan. This also put me in the same geographical sports world as Boston. When the Colts packed up and left town, I still followed the team because I loved the Colts (just not Bob Irsay). Those Baltimore citizens who continue to bad mouth the Colts, while I understand the pain better than anyone, need to put it behind them. Alas, moving on to the basis of this post, it is hard to believe that at one time I felt good for the fine folks of Boston. I was extremely disappointed in Bill Buckners inability to field a groundball, I was embarassed for the entire northeast during SB XX, and I legitamately felt bad that for whatever reasons, the Sox and Patriots seemed to have higher powers working against them when it came to getting over the hump (Bucky "F'ing Dent...Lol). When things finally started to change, I felt like finally, Boston fans were getting what they deserved. I was pulling hard for the Patriots over the Rams, I watched the Sox celebration post 2004 and these two events made me happy. Little did I know that the rest of the sports world would be unleashing hell. I can't go watch the O's at Camden Yards without being swarmed by Red Sox fans cursing at me and yelling how much my Orioles suck. It is true that they do but I really don't care to have my 6 year old subjected to such poor sportsmanship (sportsmanship runs both ways-when you are winning and losing). There are plenty of decent Boston fans but it seems to me that they also have more than their share of arrogant jerks. They can not be happy for their own good fortune, they need to tell me what a pathetic moron I am for liking the O's and Colts. I have gotten more than one text message today from my Patriots fan associates (most of which could not tell you who Tony Eason, Irving Fryar or John Hannah are as their alligences lie since approximately 2003) rejoicing in the Colts playoff exit. Of course, every Pats fan will tell you that he has been one since about 1843, but is it too much to ask to tone it down? I do not want this to turn into a back and forth with every guy named tombradyisgod and Ilickbillsnads, I am just spouting off going through the greiving process...hahahaha. Now, moving on.
Looking on the bright side, I remember back in the off-season when we lost our secondary to free agency, had a retiring all-pro LT, and a departed veteren SB RB. Then McFarland goes down, Freeney blows out a foot, Harrison came up gimpy, Rob Morris gets carted off the field etc, etc, etc...Still a solid season all things considered. It did not end how any of us wanted it too but it would have been easy to fold up the tent instead of put together a 13-3 effort. Now lets all come in off the ledges and look toward next year. ;)

I lived in Boston for 5 five years in the 90's
But I really, REALLY had a hard time finding any Pats fan at the time. Football just wasn't big ANYWHERE close. Maybe that's why I only start caring for Football when I moved back to Brazil. Now, I bet that if I go back to Boston, I can find a Brady shirt on every corner.

They are the equivalent of...
I've lived in the NorthEast, both NYC and Boston.
The Yankees fans were obnoxious, but the Sox and Pats fans started becoming them after their wins.
I've heard from my boss that only thugs and drunks used to go to Pats games where there used to be fighting all the time. It was like an English soccer game out there, hooligans and all.
But they don't like to be reminded about that and want everybody to think that Boston has always hosted championship caliber teams.
Won't last for long. Keep watching.

and the Colts fans?
OK, I have to honest with you all, I am a Patriots fan and can't stand the Colts and Manning. But I was thinking about why I can't stand them. I come to 2 conclusions and I think you Colts fans would agree.
1. The Colts are our biggest competition; and
2. Overexposure.
The same can be said about the Pats, while I love watching all the coverage, I can also say that the Colts also has the same type of over exposure the past few seasons. That is why I simply got sick of hearing how great Peyton Manning was/is. I suppose the exposure is deserved because these two teams are doing things that have never been done before, but if it is not your team being overexposed, it just makes you hate them.
So while I do not call myself a Colts fan, I do respect the Colts and think that when we look back at our teams when both our teams fall back into relative obscurity, we'll all look at this rivalry the way I look at the old Celtics/Lakers rivalry. Nothin but respect.
While you all may not believe it, last year when the Colts beat us, I said go get your championship Peyton. That's out of respect, he is damn good QB. Comparisons with Brady are stupid, because I believe these two thrive on the competition between each other. If you guys hate Brady, you can say its b/c of this or that, but it IS because he is the only QB to match/perhaps beat Peyton's ability. Rivers is a punk, but Brady is a class act and you all know it. Just as I know Manning is as well.
Yes it is easy to gracious when my team is still in it and yours is not, but set an example and stop the hatred when it brings you all to boo a 14 year old girl. Am I happy you guys lost? Of course I am, but only because you are the team out there with the best chance of beating us. Again, it is respect. So when I see all you guys wishing for us to lose, ask yourselves why?
