James Hardy

This question is for all you guys on this site who are also IU football fans.  How good of a pro prospect is James Hardy.  I have seen a few of his games and he looked great.  His size and playmaking ability seemed to project great in the NFL.

Also, where do you think he will get drafted in this year's draft.  As a Titans fan, we need a playmaking receiver badly.  Do you think he could fit our team?  It would be good to have someone with length who can catch Vince's not always entirely accurate throws.

Thanks and hope you guys can help.  I know atleast Marked Hoosier can help me.

If your QB's throws are not accurate then you... should get a new one.

If you want QBs ...
you draft from Purdue. Per Wikipedia: "Purdue has traditionally been called the 'Cradle of Quarterbacks', having produced NFL hall of famer Dale Samuels, Bob DeMoss, Super Bowl MVP Len Dawson, Bob Griese, Mike Phipps, Mark Herrmann, Scott Campbell, Jim Everett, Eric Hunter, Billy Dicken, Kyle Orton and Drew Brees."

Come on MasterRWayne, make my day. Who you got? Trent Green?

Hardy is a bit of an enigma.....
in my opinion.  He has some overwhelming stats, and some equally underwhelming stats.  I'm a Purdue Fan, but I consider myself to be reasonably unbiased ;).

His size and 16 TD receptions are impressive, but if you subtract his games against Penn State and Purdue, he only averaged 5 receptions and 80 yards per game against mostly mediocre competition.  It  doesn't make too much sense when he plays on a team with so few offensive weapons.

Maybe it's because of Kellen Lewis, maybe not.  I  think he'd be a stretch for a 1st round pick, with Guys like Mario Manningham and Limas Sweed (among others) ahead of him.  He's probably worth a 2nd rounder though.

Hardy? Hardly.
From what I understand, Hardy is widely considered a 3rd round or less. He doesn't come from a traditional football power, and like you said his numbers are largely the results of a few good games. It's not unreasonable to see him end up just about anywhere. He's got potential, and if he's got someone decent throwing him the ball, he could turn into a real star. Or he could flame out entirely. Either way, he's not going in the first round, and the 2nd is a stretch.
