Bethea added to Pro-Bowl Roster

Sanders may not play, but at least we'll have one safety in the Pro Bowl!

Indianapolis Colts safety Antoine Bethea has been added to the AFC Pro Bowl squad, replacing injured Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu.

The honor continues a run of success for the second-year player, who last season was a rookie starter for the Colts' Super Bowl champions.
"It's a great feeling,'' Bethea said in a statement released by the team. "It's just a continued blessing for me. Last year playing in the Super Bowl and now this year, my second year, being selected to go to the Pro Bowl.

Bethea
He should have been selected as Bob's alternate and not John "slow as a bitch" Lynch. Also,  Kerry Rhodes of the Jets deserved a Pro Bowl nod over Lynch. JMO.

Pro bowl is a popularity contest
That is why guys like Lynch and J. Ogden go year after year.  They aren't the best player at their position, only the most recognized.  These type of players don't for the most part have flashy stats, so their performance is probably a lot harder to judge..

I wish they all would withdraw...
their names. Glad Bob is not playing. I think the Pro Bowl is a complete joke and just an unnecessary risk (ask Drew Brees)...knocks on wood.

Did Brees hurt himself in the Pro Bowl?
He tore something in his arm during the final game of 2005 (New years eve if I remember correctly), but I don't remember him hurting himself in the Pro Bowl.  Agreed though...the game is a joke.

yep...
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/02/10/AR2007021001516.html

New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees dislocated his left elbow in the first quarter of the Pro Bowl on Saturday. Brees, who throws right-handed, didn't break any bones.

Last year
I forget what happened exactly, but Brees did get hurt in last year's Pro Bowl.  It wasn't anywhere near as serious as his injury in '05, but I think it would've sidelined him for a few weeks had it been the regular season.

bethea
Is a beast and this is well deserved although this does raise his stock and may keep him from being resigned when his contract is up. He is also a pretty cool guy I got to meet him on a flight on new years eve from charlotte to Indy.
