Fantasy Football Sleepers and Busts: Week 6
Editor's Note: Be sure to get your picks in for the Stampede Blue Prediction Contest. You have until 1:00 ET on Sunday. Get your picks in sooner rather than later.
Welcome to Week 6 of your Fantasy Football Sleepers and Busts. I'll review last week before going into this week's studs and duds.
Sleepers:
- Earnest Graham: 59 yds rushing, 21 yds rec = 7 pts. Warrick Dunn got more carries than Graham, which usually doesn't mean good things. Also, Denver's defense finally decided to show up.
- Chris Chambers: 3 catches, 30 yards, 1 TD = 9 pts. I'll take 1/2 a point for this one. He scored the lone TD for the Chargers, but didn't have many yards. He was tied for 23rd in points for WR, so just on the outside of a starting WR.
- Anthony Fasano: 3 catches, 47 yards = 4 pts. The Dolphins decided to go more towards their WR then the TE, and Fasano suffered. Not a good week for my sleepers.
Busts:
- Matt Hasselbeck: 105 yds passing, 0TD/1 INT = 2 pts. The Giants are good. Hasselbeck was not. Expect Hasselbeck to bounce back this week against the Packers
- Clinton Portis: 145 yds rushing, 1 TD, 13 receiving = 21 pts. The reverse jinx worked! Portis has looked really good this season, and one of the main reasons my (other) fantasy team is 5-0. I think I'll shy away from picking against the Eagles defense.
- Dwayne Bowe: 5 catches, 57 yards = 5 pts. Bowe had almost half of the the Chiefs receiving yards last week in their blow out loss to Carolina. The Chiefs are bad, but most likely will not have the #1 pick, as the Lions and Rams are both more awful.
My bonus pick of Kyle Orton also worked out well, 334 yds passing and 2 TD, so I'll add that one in as well.
So I was 4.5 / 7 last week, and 19.5/33 for the season. There are 4 teams on bye this week, so make sure to take them out of your lineup (BUF, KC, PIT, TEN). Here are you fantasy nuggets for Week 6:
Sleepers:
- Matt Cassel vs. SD: The Chargers have given up the most fantasy points to QBs so far this season, and Cassel looked much more comfortable last week against the 49ers.
- Chris Perry vs. NYJ: The Jets are towards the bottom of the league in terms of fantasy points to RBs, and I think this is the week that the Bengals get their first win of the season, after playing well last week in Dallas.
- Bernard Berrian vs. DET: Berrian found the end zone last week on Monday Night, and expect him to find it again against the awful Lions. This should include at least one deep ball.
Busts:
- Eli Manning vs. CLE: Even though the Browns offense has been putrid this season, their defense has been very good, fantasy wise, against QBs. Add in Monday Night for the first time in Cleveland in a long time, and the defense will be charged up by the fans.
- Steven Jackson vs. WAS: The Rams will be throwing the ball a lot this week, seeing as how they'll be down early to the far superior Redskins. Jackson may get some receiving yards, but don't expect him to find the end zone.
- Reggie Wayne vs. BAL: I've stayed away from the Colts so far this season with these picks, but couldn't do it any longer. I think Reggie is going to struggle against the Ravens, who have their starting corners back, unlike last season.
Bonus pick: Gus Frerotte vs. DET. This may become a weekly pick as well, picking against the Lions.
Weekly Derek Anderson "bust" pick: Anderson was off last week, and gets to go against one of the best defenses in the NFL, the Giants this week, in front of the entire country. See above what happened to Matt Hasselbeck last week, and he's a decent QB.

I'm in right
I hit submit, but then backed up to write down my picks. Don’t want to blow my lead on something dumb like that.
and Samari Rolle is out along with the Ravens SS and nickelback, so their secondary is still less torn up than last year, but far from healthy.

You are good to go
The reverse jinx worked for Portis last week, so going for the same thing this week with Reggie.

Their #1 is fine
but their 2 and nickelback are out. Either Marvin or Wayne are going to be big along with Clark/Gonzo

yeah, Left cornerback
and Marvin traditionally lines up to the offensive right (offensive right=defensive left)
but, the Colts have been moving guys around more, especially when they have Gonzalez and even the teams that are strict about which CB is on which side still flip the guys a decent amount of time.

Can the real Colts please Stand Up
My heart cannot take another awful game or last second heroics. Captain Comeback is long gone. Is it too much to ask for a 17 point win? I think we would all feel a whole lot better to show Baltimore there is a reason we left in the middle of the night.
GO HORSE!!
