Addai out 2-4 Weeks

per rotoworld.com and nfl.com

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that Joseph Addai will miss 2-4 weeks with a slightly torn hamstring. The story is coming up as an error on Schefter's blog, but we have confirmed the news with him. With Mike Hart out for the year, Dominic Rhodes is going to get most of the carries, although Tony Dungy said he will use Clifton Dawson and Chad Simpson, who both were just added to the active roster. Addai's inability to hit 300 carries will continue this season and has prevented him from being a consistent fantasy difference maker. Oct. 15 - 3:17 pm et

Wow

This sucks. And a terrible time to lose him. We are going to play two great teams in Tennessee and Pittsburgh and Green Bay and New England aren’t guaranteed wins either. This is a major bummer. Rhodes better step it up. This makes losing Hart for the year even worse.

Bummer.

I hope Simpson and Dawson perform.

Will Carrol said 2-4 weeks in FO's injury column too

though he said he’d expect Addai on the low end of that because Addai is a quick healer (a good trait for someone who gets dinged up as often as him).

I think we'll be ok with Dom

I have confidence in Dom. I think he’s tougher than Addai and we’re gonna need that against the Titans. Hopefully Dawson can provide a change in pace if anything but alot lyes on Doms shoulder for the next couple of weeks i think.

Can Dom

play the entire game?? That’s what I worry about.

Chad Simpson and Clifton Dawson have been in the system

both were in camp with the Colts and Simpson has been on the PS since the start of the season. They will be up to speed on the playbook pretty quickly.

Here's A Thought

I had been pining for more Hart over the past 6 weeks of the NFL season. I thought he was a good runner and could bust through the whole for some tough yards. Pipe dreams now, but here’s something to ponder. If the Colts had done a better of job of rotating backs and playing all 3 regularly throughout the season (instead of just as breathers), do you think we would still have our original 3 backs healthy? I know injuries can’t be predicted, but I just have a feeling that we wouldn’t be so dinged up if our running by committee approach was executed better.

As long as peyton can stay hot i think we’ll be fine and this week shouldnt be that difficult against the banged up packers passing defense with al harris and atari bigby still out

Against the Titans

Dom in 2006 had 32 carries for 123 yards(3.84 YPC) and 1 TD.

rotating backs?

While I would have liked to see the backs rotated more this season as well, I don’t think that would have stopped this from happening. A (slightly) torn hamstring does not sound like the kind of injury that comes from wear and tear. I’m no doctor, but it doesn’t seem like it would have helped.

Would not have helped

He got injured because he went full steam into a diving defender who bent his knee back. Rotating would have done nothing. All would have been well if he had gone out of bounds, but that just isn’t his style. That’s like asking Bob Sanders to not hit guys so hard.

The only way to get Bob not to hit guys hard

is to tell him not to hit guys at all.

Back to Addai

I think his injury is more closer to two weeks. According to Colts.com, Dungy said that Addai may try to persuade him to play this week, but most likely next week should be a go. So I think Schefter makes it more alarming or intriguing by adding that 4 weeks potential when its really closer to 1-2 weeks.

Everyone on NFL network

NFL network all day today has report 2-4 weeks. I’m think almost for sure this coming week, from there it just depends on his need. If Dom plays well and has help from the bench, then we may let him rest yet another week, but at the same time the Titans game is much more important than the Packers game, hopefully they’re won’t be a let down there.

so…this sucks

We Colts fans did not pay $720 million dollars in public funds to build a brand new stadium that will get opened on Sunday Night Football by Jim Friggin Sorgi.
