My Monday Night Concern

I may be in the minority here, but I'm going to spew it anyway.  The one thing I'm really concerned about is the Colts intensity level on Monday night.  Especially in the first quarter.  We know that Nashville will be buzzing all day Monday.  Their defense is going to be hyped and will feed off what I assume will be a raucous crowd.  I hesitate to say that if we just "do what we do", we might get buried rather quickly and be forced to play catch up once again.

In the Ravens victory, the defense played exactly as we've come to expect it to play after last season.  All eleven defenders flying to the ball.  There was never a fear in my mind during that game that the Ravens were going to complete that big hitter down the sidelines nor did I think any of their running backs were going to break a huge one and take it to the house.  The defense swarmed and brought back memories of the Kansas City playoff game in 2006 where they held KC without a first down in the first half.

If the Colts match that intensity level, I feel like we're going to see one helluva football game where the outcome could possibly be put into the hands of #18 late in the 4th quarter.  We all know how that story ends.

If they can't, I fear we may be in for a long, disheartening repeat of the Packer game.

Monday night

I have a gut feeling the Colts will be fine Monday night. I don’t see them having two awful games in a row. I think they’re probably somewhat embarrassed by Green Bay and they know they’re on a national stage. There’s too much talent on the Colts for that. I bet we see the Colts who showed up for the Baltimore game, rather than the ones who went to Green Bay. We’ll see.

I think you're right.

I hope you are right.

And I thin you might be. The Colts need to rebound big from that mess last week. No better time.

we need to score first

the titans run game is my biggest concern.
if chris johnson gets enough carries he’ll probably break one.
Fundamental angles of pursuit are key to limiting a 65 yd TD to an 16 yard gain.

Simmons took the Titans

We’ll be fine.

Shonn Greene for Heisman
144 yards per game
6.5 yards per carry
08 TDs per game > 06 GPA

Yeah, the key will be how things go for them early on. I have no doubt they’ll start out pumped up but if they get scored on early or if things don’t go their way they may get all sad and then start to basically “give up” like they did vs Green Bay.

That is the problem with this team (and has been for a while) at least in the regular season. They get behind, start to act like they are going to lose so no point in keeping up the intensity which in turn makes them play sloppy. Only if something big happens do they get jacked up again. Saw it in the Texans game- D started out well, offense got the lead, D then started to falter, offense faltered, D suddenly stop playing resigned to the fact they were going to lose, then Sage handed them some plays and suddenly the D got jacked up.

I understand it isn’t just a Colts thing and all teams have this to some degree but the Colts seem to get to the depressed “oh well we are going to lose this game” level a lot quicker than many teams. I mean they kept showing the shots of Peyts and the offense Sunday and early on they seemed like they knew they were going to lose. Why not show some fire and try and keep everyone jacked up?

I agree

That intensity is missing, I don’t know if they need to lose the division before they realize they’re not playing the same way they have before, for them to realize this or what. We however are running out of excuses, it’s been month and a half, I believe that Peyton has showed the knee is healthy, and at some point him and Marvin need to catch up. I thought both were apparent in the Ravens game, but then the whole team goes up to Lambeau and lays an egg. I also believe the intensity was seen in the Ravens game as well.

I really want them to go out there and play well, for one because I think it’ll bring us home a victory, and for two set a barometer on how good the Titans really are. I mean we all know that all the games we’ve lost this year is because of some part of the team playing bad, or all parts. But if we go out there and play well and lose, because we are not the better team, it would be interesting.

I just hope not to see us play poorly, when we shouldn’t. Maybe see the running game having difficulty, not a hit on Dom, but respect for Haynesworth and his gang. I also see our run stopping ability a tough match up, because they’re that good at running, and we’re just that bad at stopping people. I see distinct advantages, in us passing against them, because I believe that on a week to week basis no one in the NFL can hold us down, when it comes to Peyton and his arsenal. As far as us defending the pass, I think Collins is immobile, and has an inferior attack, that we should be able to cause frequent turnovers, given the opportunity.
