What
an
idiot
How many times does someone need to be pulled over for the same crap until everyone learns not to do it? What is so hard about not driving while smoking dope, honestly? Personally find this story hilarious. I could care less about the Steelers, much less about an overrated wide receiver but my god. Oh well, enjoy your suspension moron.

Agree he's a moron
disagree he’s overrated. Holmes is a very good WR. He’s really the Steelers #1.

He puts up some pretty crappy numbers for a #1 receiver. He averages 41 recs, 709 yds, and 3.7 tds a year. SNORE

Actually I messed up, that’s including this years stats. Let me try this again:
50.5 recs, 883 yds, and 5 tds. Once again, SNORE.

And just for fun, I averaged it per game: 3.2 recs, 44.2 yds, and .3 tds. Pretty measly indeed.

He averaged over 17 yards per catch
while catching 58% of the passes intended for him. That is a very good deep threat. His raw numbers are low because the Steelers live up to their reputation as a running team. 14th, 31st and 29th in passing attempts the last 3 years (and because I think you took out the 3 games he missed with injuries last year. PFR has him at 3.5 receptions and 60 yards) Then throw in the rookie WRs are usually crap. I think he’s pretty good.

I have him in all my fantasy leagues.
They have benched him already this weekend. This stinks.

Good Call
Good Call Shake, that’s exactly what I was thinking, that the Steelers are a running team. As well even though he is a #1 he’s sharing catches with Ward, and Miller. So no he’s no fantasy #1, but we already knew that, just with him playing on a running team.

A moron yes, along with many others
I’ll never understand how someone could be handed the ‘keys to the kingdom’, be one of the small percentage of people to play professional sports, be idolized by tons of people, only to throw it away in the name of catching a buzz! Football careers aren’t that long, why not just wait until you retire and smoke yourself into a stupor. But, no, these idiots have to do it in the middle of their careers, when it could affect their performance and when they’re subject to drug testing…..brilliant!

It's even worse than that
Maybe you’d get away with it if the random drug testing didn’t come around to you at the incriminating time. But to blaze up in your car? And be speeding while you do it? (as is usually the case in these situations — nobody is pulled over for pot, they’re pulled over for speeding or reckless driving).
That’s one of two things: a) Arrogant ignorance — i.e. “I won’t be caught, I play for the Steelers” or b) Self-destructive — i.e. “Wow there’s a lot of pressure in this league, it’s not like college. I want out.”

And a caveat
Drug laws in this country are idiotic, unnecessarily costly, and overwhelmingly biased against the lower classes (check out the differences in sentencing between crack cocaine and regular cocaine). But whatever we think about the laws, we must abide by them or face the consequences. You’d think NFL players would’ve received that memo.

Long song, but in the middle he goes into what you were talking about.

My sentiments exactly. It’s not even the fact that he wants to get high, I personally have no problem with it and don’t mind getting blazed myself every now and then. It’s just the retardation that follows. Why, of all things you could do while you get blazed, why drive? It’s just as bad as drinking and driving, except for the fact that the shit you are messed up on IS ILLEGAL TOO. So stupid I swear.

Yeah it is sad that some people are so do dumb that they will hurt or ruin their pro sports careers over a friggin plant. Seriously, how pathetic can some be? This is where the human species has come? To some making a plant such a huge focus in their lives? Show some friggin self restraint.
I really do not care if people like to smoke weed (even if I find it pathetic) and I think it should be legal since from what I have read and heard from weed smokers it isn’t any worse than alcohol but sheesh, the fact is it is illegal there in the U.S., sports frown on it so FOLLOW THE SIMPLE RULE.
I often wonder what pro sports would be like if the majority of athletes in them actually were intelligent not just people who caught a break and would be working at Wal-mart if they didn’t get noticed. Would the play on the field be better or worse? I’d think better because they would be using their intelligence to figure stuff out and not do boneheaded stuff like say block in the back penalties which we see numerous times each week.

Just because someone isn't intelligent in the classical sense
Doesn’t mean they aren’t football smart.
Look at Maurice Clarett, when he was drafted I read a quote from one coach that said he was the smartest football player he’d ever seen, in terms of x’s and o’s, and drawing up plays, but look where he is now.

weed is illegal for the same reason moonshine is illegal
The U.S. can not put a tax on it.

Pulled over for what?
Police stopped Holmes driving a dark sport-utility vehicle with out-of-state license plates. Officers in the area had been alerted that a similar vehicle was believed to be carrying a large amount of drugs. Holmes’ vehicle matched the description but was not the one police were seeking, Griffith said.
As well the arresting officer Vogel said Holmes was very cooperative, respectful and wasn’t impaired.
So he was pulled over by chance, as well he wasn’t rolling around blazed. Yes he was dumb, and I think it’s one of the dumbest things to do, is drive around just asking to be caught. Idk I believe when you do illegal shit, you should be trying not to be caught.

His car smelled like it though
so he had smoked in the car at some point recently.

He may have
Yes he probably did smoke in the car, but he wasn’t impaired, and was no danger, and acted cooperatively and respectfully with the law officers. With all the troubles pro athletes find themselves in, so often you see them make there situation worse, by bad behavior in situations like this. Holmes wasn’t this way at all, he broke a law, and accepted the consequences. Very dumb decision to be doing any of this anyway, but good to see some sort of brain activity as well.

I’m failing to understand the point behind both of your posts. Are you defending what he did and claiming that this is just being blown out of proportion or what?
