Stories of Colts Demise Premature
Not too many people are giving the Colts much of a chance tonight, but that is a mistake...
The Colts have two HUGE things going for them tonight that often predict victories in the NFL, where the talent is usually pretty even between teams:
- They are the more desperate team, and probably will be the more focused team. Emotion + focus usually equal victories, and the Colts are an experienced team that is playing for its playoff life tonight.
- They have Peyton Manning. I realize that Peyton has struggled, and that Kerry Collins has adequately managed games this year. But Peyton is capable of willing a team to victory. I think the Colts will probably just forget about running the ball if they struggle to do so early, and just put the game in Peyton's hands. In a matchup between Peyton and Kerry Collins, I'll take Peyton every time.
We all know that the Colts will have to play great to get a win on the road in this one, but I think they will have the focus, and the experienced skill at QB, to get it done.

Manning v. Collins
Yeah, it would be frickin’ awesome if the Tacs let Kerry Collins play DB. Heck, I think Charlie or Diem might even be able to handle him 1-on-1 if they lined him up as a DE. Or were you thinking more along the lines of a Collins-Manning fistfight? That would be interesting: Peyts has youth and a laser, rocket arm and can be good at avoiding hits, but Kerry’s probably had more experience taking punches and surviving beatings.
The Colts are most likely going to lose this game, but I’ll be pretty happy if they keep it close and don’t embarrass themselves. They have a realistic chance of winning, of course; being as good as they are at confounding my expectations, I won’t even be too surprised if they somehow manage to destroy the Titans. I think the reality is that this team is going to be craptastic for another couple of weeks (I still think they can handle NE), but has a chance to get pretty good for late November and December and still make it into the playoffs at 10-6 or even 11-5 if the football gods are very kind and if the AFC keeps sucking.
Go Colts!
You Forgot
To mention that Collins will no doubt be drunk during said fistfight, thus rendering him numb and wiry. Kerry does love himself some sauce…
it isn’t collins vs manning. This isn’t tennis and i am getting sick of people acting like qbs face each other. Quite frankly, it is one of the dumbest things people say and it is so damn frequent too that it scares me people don’t see the idiocy in it..
it is a qb (and of course the 10 other guys on offense) vs the opposing defense. sheeeeeeeeeeesh
Exactly my point
Unless you’re playing against the NFC/AFC West where the “No-Defense” defense seems to quickly be gaining favor. Then it’s just the QB and 10 other guys on offense trying not to drop passes or run into their own blockers.
We have Manning.
I like the Colts chances with him at QB.
