Is the season really over?
I don't think so. If there is one thing I've learned about the Colts these past few years, it's to NEVER count them out. Fans are understandably discouraged at this time, but if they win at home next week, it brings them to 500. And, while we'll all admit that it's been a very rocky first half of the season, there's a good chance that they'll finish the second half better than they played the first half. Sanders will be back at some point, and the defense is a completely different defense with him on the field. Let's face it, we Colts fans have been spoiled rotten over the past few years. By Colts standards, they're playing bad. But, winning one out of every two games is what a bad Colts team is doing. Some 'bad' teams in this league are winless. So, when the guys finally get it together and finish the second half of the season stronger (which I think they will), the playoffs are definitely a possiblity. And, it might be better to have a Colts team in the playoffs, which has faced some adversity along the way. I'm going to put a little faith in the 'resiliency' of the Colts. Let's not give up the ship yet!

Season
No, of course the season is not over. We Colts fans are a bit spoiled because, for the last six year, the Colts have started hot. We just aren’t used to dealing with early season struggles. The positive is the team is very good and, at 3-4, still very much in the thick of things. If anyone is saying the season is over, then they are “bandwagoners” and they can kindly exit the stable. Most NFL teams deal with the kind of early season struggles the Colts have right now. The key is overcoming the adversity. The Colts will do that.

Yeah I’ve learned to never count them out, and never count on them to come through when they are the huge favorites in the playoffs.

Yep
KC was going to run all over us in the playoffs after the way the Jags destroyed us… Baltimore would run all over the colts. We couldn’t get by the patriots in the playoffs… No, no way the colts go to the superbowl with their run defense..
Oh Wait they won it all.. (at least at that point the rams had gotten rid of the ‘dome teams can’t win the superbowl’.)

It is what it is
Back in 2006, our problem was merely defense. Our offense was a well-oiled machine. In 2008, we still have some defensive woes, but the offense has fallen on hard times. Specifically, Peyton has regressed back to 2003-2004 era when he was impatient, threw into coverage, and sulked when the team played poorly. In 2006 , Manning was the leader of offense, and Sanders became the postseason leader on defense. This team doesn’t seem to have any emotional leaders right now.

12-4?
i know it sounds kinda crazy but theres only about 3 tuff games left its the at home against the titans at pittsburgh and at jacksonville lets face it the pats aint that good and we might get addai and bob back if we can get healthy and stop with the dumb mistakes maybe we can pull out a 9-0 streak the team looked good we just didnt pull it out with 3rd and longs we should stop but we can still make it to the playoffs and maybe have a long 9-0 streak

Houston?
Believe it or not, I think the Texans will be another good battle granted the game is at home. They have been playing some good footbal as of late. However, a 9-0 streak won’t be able to happen if they do not win next week against an overall good Patriots team and then followed by one of the best D in the league in the Steelers.

I say lets go 7-2 and see what happens (more realistic)

I’d be thrilled with a 10-6 season at this point.

10-6 will be a wildcard this year, maybe even both of them

Maybe Not
The league’s been too up and down this year to make predictions on records and what gets in and what doesn’t. That type of thinking will only ensure an uncontrollable downward spiral. Houston started 0-4 and is now 3-4, same record as us. Tennessee still has some tough games left plus the second round of divisional games. At this point, I wouldn’t pencil anyone into the playoffs. That kind of craziness has been rampant through the first 8 weeks of the season. Check the tallies at the end of the season as there’s no point in worrying about them now. All we can hope for is to play one game at a time and concentrate on winning each, disregarding what anyone else in the division, or AFC, or NFL is doing. The ‘One Game At A Time’ thing is an old cliche, but if I recall correctly, we won a Super Bowl riding on the coattails of One Game At A Time.

Agree
For the Colts as a team, its a one game mentality. But for fans and the media, thats not going to happen. The reason I said lets go 7-2 is because its a realistic record that can be accomplished that could lead to a playoff spot. In a way, it gives us fans still hope that a playoff berth can still be had.

I'm hoping for 10-6
Because that was my prediction.
Would love to play the Colts in the playoffs.

Thanks for a great post here. You are dead right.
I will not count these Colts out either. Until they are mathematically eliminated in my case.
