Around SBN: Ohio State And Florida Target 2013 Receiver Recruits

Well, so much for getting healthy. Now, both Indy's starting CBs are out. Kelvin Hayden may come back for 2008, but Adam Shefter says Marlin Jackson won't. Very tough break. Dante Hughes and Tim Jennings now have to step up. Despite what some here have said, both Jennings and Hughes are very solid young corners. They can get the job done. Tip to tenyardfight.

Jesus

Why? Why in the hell is this happening to the Colts? I seriously need to punch something.

It happens

It happens to everyone. The Colts have a deep secondary, and Bob Sanders is coming back. Yes, it sucks, but they can overcome.

Wow!

That really sucks. I wonder if the Colts will try Melvin Bullitt at corner now that Bobzilla is coming back (I still have zero confidence in Tim Jennings). Hayden and Jackson both spent significant time at safety in 2006 while waiting for Bob to heal up then. Why not the other way around?

I like that idea.

Bullitt did surprisingly well for Bobzilla. Wonder how he would do at CB?

From Phil B
I asked about finding playing time for Bullitt today when Sanders returns. I’m guessing they will rotate more to get him on the field and keep Sanders and Bethea fresh. They know now they have three viable options. Bullitt hasn’t played corner in a long time, so I don’t expect him to be a cornerback much, but they may use him in dime for coverage on tight ends, I suppose.

After this they might just have to try it (by have to I mean I really hope they do).

Damn

Its a BAD injury too! Marling tore his ACP and his meniscus and will require two surgiries. He may not even be 100% next year!

You know the Colts are cursed when players start blowing their knees out in practice. This is the worst goddamn year of football ever.

You must not be a...

long time fan. Many of us have suffered through years where 3 wins total was a good year!! Marlins injury is tough, but I think the secondary will be able to pick up the slack. At least I hope so…

I’m a lifelong Colts fan, but that fact is completely irrelevant. The major difference here is that when the Colts were winning a total of 3 games a season, you knew they had no chance to actually accomplish anything that season. Just pray that they get better next year. Different times now my friend. If the team could stay healthy and play up to their potential they’d be nearly unstoppable. The problem is, they aren’t staying healthy, and are severly underachieving up to this point.

Welcome to my world.

Now imagine Sanders’ career was over, and you’ll have some idea.

the difference

is Bob isn’t as old and is not a dirty player

Eric Berry for Heisman!
5 Interceptions, 1 for TD.
(10 and 2 over his brief career)
25 tackles, 2 sacks
I know this is preposterous but hey, Charles Woodson didn't deserve it either!

Reign it in there horseshoes

Speary McSanders not dirty?

And anyway, who cares? He’s equally vital to the Colts D as Rodney was to ours—that’s the point.

oops

Wasn’t finished…..

I do hate the fact that Harrison went down like that though. I would never wish injury on any player, whether I like them or not. Is Meriweather going to replace him or do you think they look for one in the upcoming draft?

Dunno.

Meriweather’s young, but so far, so good. Thing is, I thought Eugene Wilson might someday graduate to Rodney’s job, but he didn’t have the mental chops. The reason Rodney was so good at his work is that he’s got a superior football brain. That’s what allowed him to arrive with certainty, and keep everyone on the same page.

You can go looking for a Harrison, but I don’t think you’re going to find one in the draft. Meriweather has the athletic skills. Time will tell if he has the drive and football IQ to fill the bill.

Two incidents from his career at "The U"

make me doubt he’s got the IQ (of any type)

The football helmet swinging in the Miami-Fla International brawl and being the worst rapper of the 3 future 1st round picks in the 7th floor crew.
