Pittsburgh beat Jacksonville; Colts in second place in AFC South

As bad as Indy has played; as AWFUL as officiating has been to start this season; as frustrating as the injuries have felt; the Colts are second in the AFC South. If not for that horrible pass interference call against the Jags two weeks ago (and some defense) the Colts should be 3-1. But, with how this nutball season has gone, I'll take 2-2. I'll take it.

Good lord, NFL 2008 is a madhouse!

roughing the qb

did you guys see that weak roughing the qb call on the ravens today during the titans game winning drive…. pitiful

Horrible call. There have been some really bad calls so far this year. Props to the Steelers defense for stepping it up and getting the sack right after and nullifying the refs’ attempt to help the Jags.

Titans and Jags

Have both benefited from horrible officiating. The call on Collins was garbage. That ref should get canned. At this rate, will any of them get graded high enough to ref a playoff game?

have the jags gotten an offensive td without the help of bailout yellow flag on one drive this year???? because Im questioning if they have. congrats to the steelers for keeping their cool after mostly every horrible flag thrown.

as I can remember the jag sidelines taunting and flipping off the colts a few years back Im pretty sure the taunting call on the steelers, the refs missed the actual verbage of what happened. sure you cant taunt but as a team when you get that many crap calls against you somehow somewhere you are going to fire back.

I keep hearing from jags fans how the colts SHOULD be 0-4 but if you take away the walt coleman BLOW call and the luck of the coin toss in ot against houston…the jags could be 0-5

this game should not have been close. the jags score with the help of some aweful calls as did tennessee. and the colts came back with great hits and one special catch…they got their win without flags and one great comeback. acknowledge that media instead of focusing on who it was against.

the overall officiating has been disgusting and its time for them to be held accountable. this is turning back into 06 where almost every game was questioning the refs calls

its almost as if the steelers should get two wins for this game being they played two opponents…and Im no steelers fan. thats how bad the officiating was in this game

Are you sure the Jags are in 3rd place now? They still have 2 wins, and (for now) the tiebreaker over the Colts.

Nevermind, I decided to stop being lazy and just look it up. The Colts are indeed in second, horaaayyyyy.

horrible officiating

the call for roughing the passer on collins was a joke.. I saw the replay numerous times, and I don’t even know that he even actually hit him… brushed the side of his helmet … maybe.. What pathetic calls.

In our game I was almost expecting it since this was Houston’s sob story home opener in their damaged dome (and did anyone else think the field was too wet – if this dome was meant to be closed to weather what the hell has all the rain done to a surface not built to take it..) and you knew the refs would look the other way a lot.

Tennesse has always been a lucky team when it came to questionable calls, and pittsburgh is kind of like the colts with bad luck in calls… For some reason the refs just don’t seem to like them.. maybe when we meet the refereeing will be decent since the refs hate both teams…

Gonzalez

I’m starting to think Gonzalez isn’t capable of catching the ball on the run, when the pass is over his shoulder. He’s killed several critical drives by dropping that type of pass…passes that were ‘right on the money’ too! Should he be the #2 receiver if he can only catch the ball when he’s facing the quarterback?

by klove on Oct 6, 2008 10:44 AM EDT   0 recs

he's fine

he’s a second year receiver still reaching his potential. So he’s had a couple drops, it happens to every receiver.

I agree

Reggie didn’t really come on until about his third season, and Marvin was in his 3rd year when he and peyton got together. Especially with and injury last year and moving around where he is on the field he is doing well. He did have one drop yesterday that he should have caught, but all our wide receivers are dropping more than normal. It is the side effect of Peyton not being 100% and missing training camp so he isn’t in sync with these guys the way he should be.

I hope you all are right

Our running game is nil, which means the colts will be completely finished if they keep dropping passes. manning’s getting sacked and banged-around all over the place, so when he does finally get some room to throw, they (especially gonzalez) have to catch it. it’s more than just a dropped pass; it negatively affects the psyche of the whole team when a 3rd and long, in the midst of a blitz, is dropped for NO REASON. it not just physically stops that particular drive, but let’s the air out of our sails for the next couple of possessions. also, after gonzo dropped that pass, manning didn’t throw to him the rest of the game. he didn’t have confidence in him to catch it.

Addai's been over 4 YPC

both of the last two games.

And Gonzo had a great catch rate last year, even while averaging over 15 yards a catch. His hands aren’t a problem. Through last week he had caught a excellent 67% of the passes thrown at him.

Also...

…he left the game with a concussion, right? When did that happen? Maybe that’s the real reason he didn’t catch any balls later.
