Peyton Manning, QB, Indianapolis. The Colts have a playoff pulse because Manning has gutted out the first 10 games of this season. They won at Minnesota because Manning drove them to 18 points in the last 18 minutes. They won at Houston because Manning drove them to two scores in the last five minutes (and Gary Brackett added a third). Indy's one of two teams to rough up Baltimore's defense all season; Again, Manning. The Colts are 6-4 and would be a Wild Card team if the season ended today. Without Manning, they'd be 3-7 -- maybe.
Peter King ranks Peyton Manning #2 in the MVP "race" behind Kurt "pads his stats against garbage teams" Warner.

I sent Pete a message...
Manning is first, easy. The Colts aren’t 3-7 without him, they’re 0-10. Seriously, name one game this year we win without Manning? Minnesota? I guess thats the only one that comes close. Im pretty sure we can put an end to the ‘Matt Cassell is worse than Jim Sorgi’ crap, okay? The Colts have played a BLISTERING schedule, harder than any in the league, imo. Manning is throwing more than ever. Manning is making up not only for an inconsistent defense, but no running game and a passing game that has more drops than tears from a jaguar fan.
Manning has been robbed of MVP trophy’s multiple times. The year they won the super bowl, are they even IN the playoffs without his play? Last year are they even in the playoffs without his play? People take the play of Peyton for granted, and just go ‘well, he’s peyton, he doesn’t need the MVP’… but he is clearly the single most important player to his team. The Chargers are winning (and losing) with LdT. The Patriots are winning without Brady. The Saints are sucking with Brees. Only Manning is putting a team on his arm (literally) and willing them to something more than mediocrity.
Agreed
I agree with everything you’ve said, except our schedule. Our schedule is exactly the same as Tennessee’s, which has been said countless times to be a easy one. Only difference in schedules are, we play SD/NE, and they play NYJ/KC. Where is our’s started more difficult and then got easier, because of injuries, and bad play. Tennessee’s schedule just stayed easy.
Manning vs Warner
As a Colts fan, I would love for Manning to get his 3rd MVP, but you can’t overlook Warner either. The true definition of MVP is the person that is the most valuable player to his respective team. I know that the Colts wouldn’t be where they are (in the thick of the playoff race) without Manning, but you can’t take anything away from Warner. Yeah, Arizona plays in a weak division and has feasted on those foes, but the Cardinals would not be where they are with Leinart. Warner is the MVP for their team. Fitzgerald and Boldin are putting up mind boggling numbers thanks to him. It’s a fantasy football dream. The Cardinals have always been a joke, yet here they are leading their division with a distinct possibility of hosting a playoff game. The Cardinals!?!? Homerism wants Manning for MVP, but if they picked Warner, it wouldn’t be without merit.

Full Disclosure
In the interest of full disclosure, I should say that I have both Warner and Manning in each of my fantasy leagues, as well as Fitzgerald, Boldin, Wayne, and Clark spread out between my two teams.

Respect for the Elderly
“Kurt "pads his stats against garbage teams” Warner."
As much as I would love to see Peyton take home another MVP i think that we cant argue that Kurt Warner has played at an extremely high level. He can only beat who is on his schedule and he has done a hell of a job so far. Considering that no team wanted him after constructing the “Greatest Show on Turf” because of injury and belief that he was a “product of the system” he has quited all critics. He is most deserving of league MVP. You’ve got my vote Kurt

Kerry Collins...???
Believe it or not, I’ve been hearing Kerry Collins name thrown into the MVP race. I think that is mind boggling for him to be considered MVP because he isn’t even the most valuable player on his team. He has been playing consistent and gives his team a chance to win, but the Titans are known this year for their D and the RBs.
Yea I like the Colts, but Manning will start to be in the MVP conversation if not already in a few more games. Sorry I mean Peyton, I keep forgetting that there is another Manning in the league. Peyton should starting padding his stats with the defenses that are on the schedule as the Colts hopefully make it into the playoffs.

I love kurt warner. thoroughly enjoyed watching him play for the iowa barnstormers and how he got to the nfl the guy is a class act. yes he plays in a crap division with alot of great recievers padding his stats….oh wait wasnt that how peyton was percieved and why he didnt win but one MVP. no dissing kurt and he has made iowa proud. his continual perserverence when everybody thought he was done after the rams broke up to me is very underrated but peyton after all he went through, if the colts win 10 or more games and he keeps playing like he is I dont think you can deny what he has really done this year. the guy for the first time was injured and wasnt ready to play. that didnt stop him. he has literally willed this team to 6 wins with his play. I think peyton IS the mvp right now.
A Joke
The co-MVP was a joke. Everyone knows Manning should have won that outright.
