Mike Lombardi needs to stop taking shots at the Colts
From Mike:
Mike, when the Broncos, Jets, or Chargers go into Pittsburgh and stone the Steelers ground game en route to a win, you can compare their defenses to Indy's. Since they haven't done that (and Indy did), kindly stop comparing the defenses.Between the Colts, the Broncos, the Jets Pass Defense, and the Chargers, I am not sure who has the worse defense, but two of those teams will make the playoffs.

Colts D
The Colts D is very inconsistent and they did not play good yesterday. We all know the D can be in the top 10 when everyone is healthy, but at this point they are not. Next week the Chargers offense has a chance to put up a good amount of points if the Colts D does not step up and have a good game.
Even though they lost, I thought the Chargers D played pretty good against the Steelers…they also had a goaline stand to prevent a score and another 4 and 1 stop. Next week could be a high scoring game just like this week but we’ll see…if Bob Sanders and Hayden come back then I’ll be more confident in a win

Yup...
Our defense warrants all kind of criticism. It is inconsistent and must improve plenty for next weekend.

Colt's defense
At times the Colts defense looks spectacular, like in the three interceptions during the Pittsburgh game, or the goal line stand in that game. More often than not though, they’re incredibly porous. Everyone around the league knows that….it’s no secret. However, with Bob Sanders playing, they improve quite a bit and actually become somewhat ‘respectable’ on defense. Without him, they’re not very good. Those are the facts. You can spin it anyway you want, but it doesn’t change the reality of it. So, hopefully Sanders will be back soon. The Colts success depends on it. The offense seems to be getting it’s groove back and was fortunately able to compensate for the porous defense. But, remember, it was the Texans. Against a better team, I think they would have needed Sanders.

Texans still have a more than respectable offense….a crappy D on the other hand

No kidding, the Texans offense is pretty high ranked overall.

You're right
their offense is pretty good and they scored 27 points. We may not always score 33 though. If they put a successful drive together at the end of the game, we would have lost by one. If Sanders was in, instead of 27, they may have had 21. It gives our offense the probability of a little more breathing room. I’m still not sure I’m ready to put Mr. Chopper up there in the top tier of good QBs though. But, your point is well taken. They looked pretty efficient on offense overall.

Big plays
where our D screwed up yesterday was on big plays. Take away that 70+ yard run and Slaton runs for less than 100 yards. Pretty good by our standards. Same with the long pass play. Those are really odd mistakes for our D as they really haven’t given up big plays like that very often. I think our D is much improved even without Bob. As the new Johnson settles into the rotation I imagine the run stopping will continue to improve.
