Antoine?
So Antoine Bethea. No doubt, a great player. Awesome, in fact. But how do you pronounce his name?
Last year, it seemed to me like everyone was pronouncing it "buh-THAY-uh". This year, most of the announcers are calling him "buh-THAY" and removing the "uh" at the end. Does anybody know how HE prefers his name to be pronounced? I don't want to scream at the idiot announcers for something that I have wrong. I want to be right in my estimation that Tony Kornheiser is an idiot. Anyone? Anyone?

It's buh-THAY
I don’t remember exactly where I learned it, I think it was Phil B., but Bethea apparently decided he wanted announcers to pronounce his name right this year. one of those things where it’s tough as a younger player to “demand” a pronunciation but when you’ve made a pro bowl it’s a little easier to get everyone to say your name right.
Huh
I’ve been calling him But-thay-uh all year. I probably will continue though because that is what I am used to.

PHIL B: I understand why you are asking. We were told at the beginning of this season that his last name is to be pronounced “Beth-ay,” per his request. I know Cass mentioned Phil Simms’ saying it that way during an earlier game and I pointed out then that we were asked to pronounce it that way. We honor the players’ requests on such things. Announcers are undoubtedly told when they come to town that it is now “Beth-ay.”

fair point
must be annoying to continually have your name mispronounced, but, I’m afraid its too late now, I will forever refer to him as antoine bu-thay-uh. And I will continually refer to Kornheiser with a number of profanities which quite simply cannot be written on a respectful blog site such as this and which should never be uttered on a Sunday for fear of upsetting Coach Tony, Jebus and his Dad!

It's Beth-ay
But I will never be able to stop calling him Beth-ay-uh.
During the film defensive introductions last night
Antoine pronounced his last name Buh-thay-uh. I would think he knows how to pronounce it.
Phil B says the announcers were told to say it Buh-Thay this year.
maybe he’s just screwing with everyone, or he likes to say it different than the rest of the family.
