Week Twelve: Indianapolis Colts at San Diego Chargers- Open Thread

Indianapolis Colts at San Diego Chargers, Nov 23, 2008 8:15 PM EST

AT

Week Nine: Indianapolis Colts (6-4) at San Diego Chargers (4-6)
Location: Qualcomm Stadium- San Diego, CA
Kick-off Time: 8:15pm Eastern
Broadcast: NBC
SB Nation Co-Blog:
Bolts From The Blue

We blogged about it during the week, and after all the early game craziness today, this game now becomes a big, BIG game for both the Colts and Chargers. The last time Indy was in SD, it was a rainy, dark, gloomy game that saw Adam Vinatieri miss a gimme FG, Peyton Manning throw 6 INTs, and Dwight Freeney break his foot. Are the Colts looking for revenge? Redemption? Pay back? No. This is all about just getting a big win against a tough opponent also playing for their playoff lives.

A key injury note: Bob Sanders will not play. Melvin Bullitt is starting a strong safety.

I hope you enjoyed DaBolts' cross-blogging with us all week. He is a wonderful addition to SB Nation, and for a Chargers fan's take on the game, check out Bolts From The Blue. It is late November and the games are getting tough, nasty, and heated. This one should be no different than all the other big games today. Here is to a good, clean game.

Go Colts!

Should be fun

Unfortunately, the game still won’t start for 25 minutes. NBC’s pre-game is AWFUL. Collinsworth and Olbermann are total douches

Costas and Patrick aren't bad

But they get dragged down by the suckiness they’re surrounded by.

Chargers always play us competitvely

This Charger team has been less than stellar, (Only 6 INT’s all this year, they had that many against Peyton last year…) but they’ve caught some tough breaks. If it wasn’t for the blown call in Denver, we’d be talking about a 5-5 team right in their division. (Although losing to the Raiders, Denver sure doesn’t want to win that division, we’ll probably see an 8-8 team in the playoffs)

Player Introductions

Does anyone else think that every network should start using the same player introductions they use on NBC’s broadcast? I’ve always loved when the players introduce themselves and give their colleges.

Plus, its always nice to hear someone from Purdue. Its been a (relatively) lean couple of years for the program these days…

by dbaltman on Nov 23, 2008 8:16 PM EST reply actions

It was beautiful.

Here’s hoping Danny Hope is the next Matt Painter.

by dbaltman on Nov 23, 2008 8:23 PM EST up reply actions

I think Painter was OK last year

But he has a lot more talent around him than he did this year. Just look at what Keller is doing for the Jets right now. Unfortunately Painter just hasn’t been accurate this year, and he hasn’t had the athletes to bail him out.

Dont’ know about the future. Siller will be a project.

The Chargers Are Our Hardest Opponent Left Until Tennessee

If we win this game, we will be 11-4 going into that home game, and hopefully Tennessee will have dropped 2.

Cleveland, Cincy, Detroit all suck balls

It would be pathetic to lose to one of them.

At Jacksonville, even with the way they’ve looked, still will probably be tough. But certainly winnable. I think Tennessee has everything wrapped up by them, I wouldn’t be surprised if they rest people.

It stems from the incident with Cutler where Rivers was flapping his lips from the sideline…and other similiar incidents.
