Edge didn't start...
or even get a single carry this week. Hard to believe such a smart player, such a capable 4.2 runner is second class mail now. He didnt break away runs but he had his squirt of power after hitting the line that got him his yards. And I think Addai gets downed in the backfield too much. Looking at Faulk today on the draw and Addai--Faulk takes the fall and is already into the the mosh. Addai has a hop and is tackled for a loss. Addai has power but he doesnt hit the line like Edge. Edge seemed to accept being tackled and had a target on the ground 4.2 yards ahead he was going to make and take off linebacker parts on his way. Addai still seems to think he might find a wide open field in a moment--and is flattened by every spare linebacker and defensive end in the stadium. Obviously the Colts need a back with a lot going on upstairs. I'm missing Edge during this game and to see him lose his starting job to a rookie a couple years after leaving here kinda sux.

Edge can't be worse than Dawson right now
if they cut him, which they definitely might after doing fine without him, I’d love seeing him back in Indy.
Shonn Greene for Heisman
140 yards per game
6.3 yards per carry
08 TDs per game > 06 GPA
No way Edge is coming back
He’s too old. It would be great for sentimental reasons of course, but there’s no way. But I also agree on Addai. He’s not making one cut and then going up field. He’s tip-toeing around in the backfield, behind his blockers, and then getting tackled by swift breeze (see the series when he got “tackled” on a critical 3rd down).
Clearly
what Addai is doing this year is garbage. I think it’s a combination of the offensive line and possibly the lack of ‘power’ by Addai. But, for whatever reason, Addai gives me no confidense at all that he’s going to gain more than a yard. It hardly keeps the defense honest. Rhodes, from my perspective, is the better back at this point. Addai looks like a completely different back than he did from a year ago. Maybe it’s because he’s coming off an injury. I’d like to see him return to his old form soon.
I would love to see the Colts resign Edge if only to see him retire as a Colt and nothing else. I don’t think he is too old and I do think he may have some left in the tank. However, I just think that Arizona’s need at runningback isn’t what Edge can provide him. He isn’t a power back, or a speedy guy. But when need be, he can provide both and has done it for years with the Colts, and even with the Cardinals. I just hate seeing him rot down in Arizona, even though they are having a pretty good year, but he went through some pretty shitty years down there. Anyways…
To all those commenting on Addai’s lack of performance, I’m going to have to agree and disagree. Addai does have happy feet right now, but can you blame the game? He’s been a tackling dummy all season long because of the o-line and their ineptness at creating decent running lanes for him to squirt through. Addai has a lot of pep in his step if he can get into a hole, but there have been none. The only time the o-line has provided decent running lanes all season was in the Baltimore game. Even if Rhodes was in there last night, I don’t think he would have had any better production. I’m sure he is a bit hesitant right now to prevent any injury, and I’m not going to jump his case right now about that. If anything, I think the Colts need to start splitting the carries a lot better between Addai and Rhodes. Rhodes only had 4 carries last night, to Addai’s 17. That’s not good. It’s fairly obvious to me that those two guys work best when it’s literally split 50-50 because: 1) They stay fresh. 2) They take less pounding therefore (hopefully) resulting in less injuries. 3) Keeps defenses on their toes or heels.
The King of anti-fail.
Line injuries have doomed Addai's running style
We all know that the line has been the most beat up of all the spots until now with the meltdown of the corner spot, but almost no running back can run well behind an inconsistant line. The only guy to do that is Barry Sanders and that’s because he’s, well, Barry Sanders. The constant shuffling around of the line has made it hard for anyone to run the ball well. We just need to start the same line for a while to get everything back to normal. Addai is fine. He’s an ‘edge’ runner, pun fully intended. He is really good at running the stretch play that the Colts do so well at until the line massacre this year. Dom is not an inside runner. That’s why I was jumping for joy when we got Hart because he’s good at running between the tackles, then he got hurt. Addai is very good and good in the Colts system.
