Over/Under on sacks on Big Ben?

Ben has been sacked 23 times in 7 games (3.3 per game)
Redskins have 10 sacks on the season (tied with our Colts for 29th in the league) for an average of 1.25 per game

It’s the stoppable force vs the movable object

I’ll set it at 2. Place your bets.

pressure on QB

Now, that’s the kind of pressure we need to get on big Ben next week!

by Ayrshire on Nov 3, 2008 9:00 PM EST reply actions

At this point

Freeney could be our most overpaid player.

by Ayrshire on Nov 3, 2008 9:01 PM EST reply actions

To me

Freeney was still worth the asking price. Its the Run D and offense hat keeping him from doing his thing

by metal_militia on Nov 3, 2008 9:02 PM EST up reply actions

they should

Though, that is kind of hard as well when all teams do is dink and dunk

by metal_militia on Nov 3, 2008 9:06 PM EST up reply actions

They are better in adjusted sack rate (21st vs 29th)

which accounts for how few pass plays they face compared to normal Ds and also the easily converted down/distances.

Well, whatever the reason

I’m going to be extremely P.O.ed if Freeney doesn’t start getting some sacks soon. It’s getting ridiculous.

by Ayrshire on Nov 3, 2008 9:07 PM EST reply actions

Once the offense starts getting leads

and the Run D starts giving up 1 or 2 yards instead of 5-6 yards to make the downs manageable combined with all those little quick three steps and out passes, the Sacks will come

by metal_militia on Nov 3, 2008 9:10 PM EST up reply actions

I hope so

because as someone else mentioned, in his ‘prime’ (04/05), he was getting approximately 15 or so sacks per game. Weren’t people focusing on him then too? Maybe he’s lost a step due to injury? Any thoughts?

by Ayrshire on Nov 3, 2008 9:11 PM EST up reply actions

Dont think so

He got alot of pressure this year, but it stopped when people stopped passing and started running. Kind of like the 2006 season

by metal_militia on Nov 3, 2008 9:13 PM EST up reply actions

nope, double team

Good luck

But I can’t believe you don’t want to stick around to watch Zorn bugle the clock management.

by Jay Cutler's Barber on Nov 3, 2008 10:48 PM EST up reply actions

That's a pick and fumble

maybe Campell can play with some aggression now

On back to back plays

Draw, then a Screen. Moving it well.

Then an INT.

Ugh

Completing 3rd and longs. That doesnt look good for next week.

by mgrex03 on Nov 3, 2008 10:58 PM EST reply actions

Wow

Maybe I’d rather face Roethlisberger.

by Jay Cutler's Barber on Nov 3, 2008 11:00 PM EST reply actions

Yeah

I’m hoping Leftwich is just playing on adrenalin right now

by LovinBlue on Nov 3, 2008 11:03 PM EST up reply actions

To be fair

Leftwich is also getting some semblance of protection. Roethlisberger sure got none

Forgot to cover the RB there

by danorocks17 on Nov 3, 2008 11:04 PM EST reply actions

Where's the pressure?

they aren’t getting to Leftwich even though he’s less mobile with a slower release than Ben

They've been on the field a long time in the second half

Thanks to bad play calling and not making 3rd down conversions.

by mgrex03 on Nov 3, 2008 11:07 PM EST up reply actions

3rd

He had all day again. Weird

Helmet to Helmet is a Penalty

Argue that the penalty shouldn’t exist, but as it is, it’s a penalty.

by mgrex03 on Nov 3, 2008 11:18 PM EST up reply actions

?

Isn’t it only a penalty if you lead with the top/crown of your helmet?

by Jay Cutler's Barber on Nov 3, 2008 11:26 PM EST up reply actions

Brutal

But that one was still better than the one on Tuck. Worst call ever

by Jay Cutler's Barber on Nov 3, 2008 11:18 PM EST up reply actions

Agreed

Not the worst we’ve seen this year, but there has been a LOT of PATHETIC roughing calls.

This Steeler D

is going to be VERY tough to beat next week. I’d say we’re deserving of under-dog status for sure.

Can't dink and dunk here

you need 3 scores in 5 minutes. You need points now.

That pass rush is scary

but Campbell has frozen up or tried to break out of the tackles on a lot of the pressures. Peyton will handle the heat better.
