DeAngelo Hall?
ESPN is reporting that the Raiders plan to release Pro Bowl CB DeAngelo Hall this Wednesday in another move by Weird Al Davis. Davis has reportedly asked his staff to analyze the team's current roster and make suggest for players that could potentially be released by the end of the week.
Would picking up DeAngelo Hall be a good move for the Colts? The CB unit has been a little weak this year (with the exception of the Pats game), Marlin Jackson is IR'd for the year, and Kelvin Hayden has missed the past few games with an injury. Hall definitely has a history of being a hothead with his inexcusible unnecessary roughness calls and showing up of his head coach.
I personally think it would be a great move if the Colts could pull it off and if the price was right. Although, I doubt Polian would make a move like this after the Corey Simon saga.

Hall is not a good corner
he’s barely a starter. He makes the occasional big play, but that’s because he draws a lot of attempts (because of the aforementioned not goodness) and he gambles. He would be an awful fit scheme and personality wise.

Nailed it
His attitude sucks. The only person DeAngelo Hall is interested in helping is DeAngelo Hall, which is why he ignores chances to actually cover receivers in order to jump routes and try for the pick. Some team will get a decent value with Hall, but they’ll have to have the right culture to completely drown him out, and they can’t believe he’s a #1 corner talent.

Agree
No way will Polian go after Hall with the price tag that he brings even though he’s better than Ratliff and our fourth CB (Graham?)….but unless Hall is willing to come for minimum wage…he will not be a Colt.

Also
Hall would have to go through waivers meaning that if no team picks up his current large contract, then he will essentially be a free agent. The Colts are not the only team who are in need of a CB….Cowboys and even the Patriots are a little thin at that postion. If there was a team to pick him up either through waivers or as a free agent…it would be the Cowboys for obvious reasons I guess (he fits their personality mold I suppose)

Uh...No
I’d rather dig up Ray Buchanan or Ashley Ambrose out of retirement than bring D-Hall’s bad attitude and hefty price tag to the Colts roster. Personally, I rather like the young talent we already have in place here.

Add this to the fact that he sucks and I’m inclined to say: No spank you.

Dallas bound
he seems to act like one of Jerry’s boys. On the other hand, you think Belichik may gamble and try to reform Hall’s attitude?

Hall
With Marlin Jackson out for year and Kelvin Hayden possibly still not ready, signing Hall would be a good move. To me this would be a no-brainer. The Colts still need a big run-stuffer at DT. Daniel Muir needs to start playing alot more. Pittsburgh loves to run the ball. We don’t stop the run on Sunday, we’re looking at 4-5.

lol what?
You are correct, it is a no brainer. Signing Hall would be one of the most retarded moves Polian has ever made. Also, apparently you didn’t notice but, the Colts just signed another DT.

DeAngelo
I think Hall is a complete and total waste product. The Colts would never go for someone like that. The guys they have are much better football players and have a much better attitude.

hahaha some of the replies are gold.
I agree that him going to Indy isn’t going to happen because he would obviously want good bucks but to say he is barely as starter and all that shit? Puh-lease.
I also love the talk about attitude when Dwight Freeney admitted he was going for bank and to be the highest paid defensive player in the NFL before he signed that insane contract. Apparently that mentality is fine and good for the team but other players being selfish are just that- selfish.
It’ll be sweet when they ask Dwight to restructure and he refuses. i fully expect it to happen.

He was Hall's day Sunday
He got torched deep for a TD by Micheal Jenkins in the first quarter. They had to switch Asomugha over onto Jenkins because Hall couldn’t handle him. The other WR Roddy White then caught all 5 of his passes for the game with Hall in coverage on him. That’s a line of 6 for 91 and a TD by the WR covered by Hall. And that’s with a rookie QB throwing the ball.
He’s not a good CB.

That mentality is fine when you aren’t a disruption in the locker room, chewing out your coaches for your own mistakes, or just all around suck. There’s a difference, use your brain.

Apparently he read this post and now he’s going to the Patriots just so he can shove down our throat year after year how good he is.
Or something.
Anyway, he’s not a shut down man to man covering corner like Asomugha is, so he was never going to fit with the Raiders. In a zone scheme where safety coverage will let him gamble on routes, he’ll go back to being a very good corner, I suspect. And he’s only what, 25? So he’s still got some years before his legs go.
He’ll be very good in the right scheme, I suspect.
