Week Ten: Indianapolis Colts at Pittsburgh Steelers- Open Thread

Indianapolis Colts at Pittsburgh Steelers, Nov 9, 2008 4:15 PM EST

AT

Week Nine: Indianapolis Colts (4-4) at Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2)
Location: Heinz Field- Pittsburgh, PA
Kick-off Time: 4:15pm Eastern
Broadcast: CBS
SB Nation Co-Blog:
Behind The Steel Curtain

As we've blogged about all week, this is not a good match-up for Indy. 18 to 88 is even less optimistic. We also now know Daniel Muir will not play, which means 270 pound NT Eric Foster will have to play much of the game at the point of attack. Though Willie Parker will not play, Mewelde Moore is a good back-up and should not be taken lightly. Key to the game is third down defense. As mgrex30's post shows, the Colts are awful on third down. To have any shot at winning this game, they must get Pittsburgh's offense off the field on third down, giving their own offense opportunities to score. They must also attack Ben Roethisberger and pressure him into turnovers.

But, as the Colts have shown all year, they do not back down from a fight. This should be one helluva game.

The Steelers are covered over at Behind the Steel Curtain. I encourage you to head over their and check out what they are doing, especially this funny spotlight on Manning. Obviously, Pittsburgh fans like to flaunt their 2005 playoff win at us. Since that playoff run, the Steelers haven't won a playoff game. I personally have had this game circled on the calendar. It won't be easy, but then again it isn't supposed to be. As always, we hope for a good, clean game.

Go Colts!

Excellent commentating..

“This is not a good start for Indianapolis”…. REALLY?? REALLY??? because I thought all teams wanted the opponent’s opening drive to result in a TD

Delay run

Not a bad idea, got some yards. Wish they wouldn’t have used as much time on the timeout

Although

that was some piss poor time management at the end.

by Ayrshire on Nov 9, 2008 5:43 PM EST reply actions

It didn't hurt us at all

Those 5 seconds we lost weren’t that big of a deal. It was 3rd down, so even if we missed on that play, we’d have to kick the FG on the next play, down or time wise.

There are other things to complain about in the first half, but that isn’t one of them.

LMAO!

I just kicked everyone out of my office. They were beginning to act like normal steelers fans, and getting rather vulgar… Not as bad as when I go to New England games though! Either way, I get to enjoy the game now!

Do the Colts play soft?

A lot of dropped balls on either hard hits or anticipated hits. Concentration issue? Is Marvin still a real #2? He just doesn’t seem to be an elite receiver any longer.
