Dominic Rhodes

This guy is an absolute machine, good running and TD that won us the game, Also Freeney, another machine with his 2 sacks and they were both big. I am also ecsatic at how well we stopped the run. Still alot of work that needs to be done but that goal line stop of Moore was very very sexy and made me happy in my nether regions. Colts are now > 0.500 and i am even more confident of a playoff spot now especially with the next few opponents we have.

tl;dr Dominic Rhodes = Beast, discuss

I feel stupid

For being upset we brought him back. He’s been a machine.

I was shocked

when I looked at the gamecenter box and saw he only got 4 YPC. He got what they needed done. I still think he should be 1b, but he’s making the split the Colts have been using look dumber and dumber.

After an Addai heavy start they switched to Dom to bring the split to 37-63 Addai. A step in the right direction. Addai looked good on some of his carries, but still wasn’t overly effective.

lol, for a change...

I’m going to disagree with you in the OTHER direction. I think DVOA will actually say Addai had a pretty decent day. I thought he was really darned effective in spurts (as you said), he did well in short situations. I think part of the problem is (aside from the fact that the steelers have a good defense) we’re not nearly as creative running the ball with Addai has we are with Rhodes. We get that spring/draw out of the shotgun with rhodes a lot, we pass on first with rhodes more a lot, we just seem very predictable with Addai. Also, he looked good on the few passes that were thrown his way. Looked like he had some of his old burst back.

shit man

I could say Peyton Manning is the best QB on the team and you would disagree with me.

but!!!

I’m disagreeing with you in a good way. I’ve been on the dominic rhodes bandwagon, as you know, and while he did nothing to change that today, Addai did show his burst again, but he’s still dancing too much behind the line. I’m agreeing with you that he’s looking better, and now Im starting to learn towards 30% addai’s fault 70% play calling to blame.

As for Peyton, his best games this year have come against the Ravens, Patriots, Titans (even though we lost, I thought he still moved the ball well) and the steelers, yea, saves his best for the best, he blows, wheres the patriots fans to tell me he’s a choker.

it's good

I was hoping it would be taken as the joke it was.

yah

I knew it was a joke, just wanted you to know i was on the same page as you. And I never pass up a chance to defend Manning. ;)

Let's give some props to Addai as well

He softened that defense up for Rhodes and he had some key 3rd down conversions early in the game. Not a day for stat-stuffing, but it’s hard to pad stats against the Steelers.

Addai injured?

When Addai stepped up and took a huge block for Peyton it looked like Addai got injured. He came back in and ran a short run but after that I don’t think I saw him. That is when Rhodes stepped up. Hopefully Addai doesn’t have to get hurt in order for Rhodes to get carries.

Rhodes is not an all-purpose back

His most glaring weakness is that he’s not an elusive open-field runner; on short passes and screen plays, he usually doesn’t get past the first tackler he faces.

But he is a beast and to me fits in perfectly as the second back. He’s like our Kevin Faulk.

The real problem with the run game is still Addai; he’s not regained his rookie year form, and I don’t know what’s wrong. He jukes too much and is hesitant to hit the hole, plus he looks slower going to the outside. If he doesn’t improve, the Colts may have to address a running back need in the draft.

Dominic Rhodes

Is our Kevin Faulk. Agreed.

Freeney finally showed up against a porous O-line. Hopefully he can carry that form onto teams which protect the QB a little better.

Rhodes is a solid chage of pace back, very useful.

I've always been on the Dom-wagon...

I knew it, I knew it. Think they should start Dom, and bring Joe in when Dom needs a breather.

\takes bow.
