Week 15 Power Rankings
What If Sports ranks us 8th (+2)
Fox Sports ranks us 6th (+3): Quietly, the Colts have found their way and Peyton Manning is looking just fine, with 14 TD passes over his last seven games. With the AFC South title out of reach, Indy must keep flooring the gas pedal to at least get one home game in their dome and avoid too many outdoor dates in January.
ProFootball Weekly ranks us 5th (+4): Playing better than some divisional leaders. No Kidding.
NFL.com has us in 5th (+2): They continue to take advantage of a soft schedule, but they still would be a very dangerous wild-card team.
ESPN (I almost feel dirty for including them) ranks us 5th (+1): The Colts should remain in blowout mode for the next two weeks.
Peter King @SI ranks us 4th: (+1): Haven't lost since the night of that weird rainout in Game 5 of the World Series. Is that the best he could come up with??
Don Banks @ SI ranks us 5th (+1): Read this week where the Colts have now joined the 1989-95 San Francisco 49ers as the only teams to ever mount winning streaks of at least six games for five consecutive seasons. Which impressed the heck out of me, until I quickly did the math and realized that those 49ers pushed their streak to seven years in a row. And those were San Francisco's first seven seasons of its eight-year George Seifert era. And what happened after the first season in which the 49ers didn't win at least six in a row? Seifert lost his job, despite going 12-4 in 1996. Sorry this quote is so long, I just wanted to share the fact that he made NO comments regarding the Colts in his Colts ranking. Stooge.
Associated Content ranks us 7th (+1): They looked really, really good. But it was only against the Bengals, so this week has to be taken with a grain of salt. Then again... they are one of the hottest teams in football, and the AFC better watch out.
Sporting News drops us to 5th (-2): Sorry Indianans, but if Lucas Oil Stadium hosted one, it would naturally have be the Hoosier Bowl. Coach Norman Dale would certainly be happy with the Colts’ offense—at least four passes on every drive. We also hear Peyton Manning is pretty good at running the “picket fence.” Huh?
Yahoo Sports keeps us in 7th (nc): Do they have a chance to be this year’s version of the ‘07 Giants?
CHFF also keeps us in 4th (nc): Last week: The Colts barely broke a sweat, blowing out the woeful Bengals 35-3 for their sixth consecutive win. Cold, Hard Football Facts: A week after his worst statistical game of the year, Peyton Manning turned in a vintage performance, completing 26 of 32 passes for 277 yards, three TDs and a 134.0 passer rating. Week 15 matchup: vs. Detroit. For Indy, this is the fifth of what will be six straight games against teams with losing records (vs. Houston, at San Diego, at Cleveland, vs. Cincinnati, vs. Detroit, at Jacksonville).

their comment was the most nonsensical one I've heard all day
and I’ve been in arguments on two SB Nations sites and spent an hour listening to other students give “persuasive” speeches.

Themes
I’m still confused by the “picket fence” comment, but I know TSN’s rankings were done based on a theme. This week’s theme was something about what a college bowl game would be called if held in a given NFL city.

You don't get the Picket Fence comment?
Looks like I have to culture more people today.
Your Homework: Go out and Rent Buy Hoosiers on DVD. Watch it. Cry a little bit.
Then read this. Simmons does create some good stuff, and this was one of his best.
I might watch it myself tonight.

Perhaps I’ve just forgotten. I actually own Hoosiers and really enjoy the movie, but it’s been a while…

D'oh!
Now I get it. Can’t focus on basketball while I’m total football mode.

What I Don't Get
I thought we were already Hoosiers by being from Indiana. Why is he apologizing and calling us Indianans? Do Purdue grads get upset or something?

Apparently
Someone’s never watched Hoosiers.
