How many rushing TDs have we allowed?

It was pointed out to me “why pass into the end zone when you can run?”

I don’t know the stat. Please give me some ammo. :)

15

None since the Texans game. (3 weeks)

Stupid Chargers had 2 passing TDs against us.

3 way tie for 8th in the league

so they aren’t terrible against the run on the goaline, but running is definitely the way to do it.

Rushing TDs

Colts have allowed 15 rushing TDs. For comparison’s sake, the titans have allowed 12. The Eagles, who many think have a good defense, especially against the pass, have allowed 19 passing TDs. The Bucs have allowed 15 passing TDs and 5 rushing TDs.

The Colts have the #8 scoring defense in football. And the whole "why pass into the end zone when you can run?" argument is crap. total crap. If you cannot pass in this league, you will not win. TDs are scored via the passing game.

The pass to the full back in the flat

is gonna come back to bite the colts in the ass if they don’t start defending it better, though…

"TDs are scored via the passing game."

What? That’s true… unless it isn’t: the Titans have 22 TDs on the ground and 8 in the air, yet rank 7th in points this year… thereby confirming my suspicion that touchdowns are scored by crossing the goal line.

hmm

Maybe because your QB is Kerry Collins and your receivers are headlined by a Bears washout.

Only 6 teams have more rushing TDs than passing TDs

Kinda makes you think...

I wonder how VY would have done throwing the ball in the end zone…oh yeah, he wasn’t really a passer, was he? heh heh heh heh

Titans

The Titans have played one of the softest schedules in the league this year. So, it does not surprise me in the least that 22 of of their TDs are via the ground. And, as shake n bake said, this is a passing league. If you can’t score points in your passing game, you will lose.

So, if the Titans don’t score TDs throwing the ball in the playoffs, they will lose early.

Ughh.

I’ll take TDs anyway I can get ‘em. All the passing TDs in the world have only gotten Peyton as many rings as Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson got, so we’ll line ’em up and see what happens.

by KingRichard on Dec 10, 2008 3:00 PM EST up reply actions

Honestly

I didn’t mean to insult anyone at all, I’m just saying that the idea that there’s only one way to win consistently is misguided.

And obviously

since you have no facts or stats to back up your argument, we’ll assume you don’t know what you are talking about.

and please, that was a pathetic back out. He did intend to insult Manning. It was obvious. Be a man and stand by your statements, or get to the back of the line.

It wasn't a back-out, asshole.

Don’t get all pissy just because you’re too blind to see the point I was making: whether you run or pass, when you pass all that matters is having more points at the end of the game.

And again, the object of the game is to score points. Preferably, more than the opponent. Your point was nothing, and what little was there was smashed to nothing.

LOL, What?

Listen, I know you’re a Titans fan, but my comment has less to do with Peyton Manning and more to do with league trends. This IS a passing league. Teams win passing the football. Of the 878 total offensive TDs scored this season, 512 were via the passing game. Every team that has won the Super Bowl since 2003 has had a big league QB with a dynamic passing game at the helm.

And please, don’t try and pathetically back out of your OBVIOUS insult to Peyton Manning. Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson are trivia question answers. We all notice that you didn’t say “as many Super Bowls as Steve Young.”

If you are going to come here and try and articulate an opinion, all we ask is that it be an informed opinion. The modern Colts are one of the greatest franchises in the salary cap era. Your club is not even in the same stratosphere when it comes to wins and loses, let alone the same sentence. So really, there is nothing to “line up.”

Geez, these Titans fans have one decent season, which hasn’t resulted in any playoff wins thus far, and they are talking as if they know what winning playoff football is all about. Honestly.

Please

We’ve seen our teams go to just as many Super Bowls and pretty much the same amount of AFC championships over the past 10 years. Don’t resort to that crap even if it is the level you seem to dwell on.

Where I was raised 2 + 2 = 3rd and 6.

by August West on Dec 10, 2008 5:08 PM EST up reply actions

Dude, seriously

The last ten years, the Colts have made the playoffs nine times. They’ve won nine or more games a year nine of ten years. They’ve won five AFC south Division titles and 1 AFC East division title.

Simply dismissing all that and suggesting it is nothing and only selecting certain criteria as “important” (such as Super bowl appearances and AFC Championship game appearances) really makes you look like a jerk who can see beyond his own big, fat head.

Look, no offense, but your team is no where close to ours. No one, and I literally mean no one, puts the Titans in the same class as the Colts the last ten years. If you do, then fine. Good luck convincing people the sky is green while you are at it.

Listen, if you can’t accept the plain, simple, totally OMG-its-so-obvious-it-is-growing-hair fact that the Colts are leaps and bounds better (as a franchise) over the Titans the last ten years, then you are a delusional and there is no point chatting with you further.

so do we re-sign Hayden?

he is a free agent next year and I think we have to. marlin and antonie aren’t FA’s until 2010. given the uncertainty of Marlin’s recovery from surgery, I think we are going to have to (depending on how much hayden wants), which i think is the right move. At least Marlin isn’t a FA next year, because he probably wouldn’t be back with us due to the injury uncertainty.

by Matic on Dec 10, 2008 1:55 PM EST reply actions

my gut says no. The colts aren’t the Bears or the Bucs, they rarely pay a CB… I actually think both Marlin and Kelvin are gone in 2 years. They are big, physical, and can tackle well. They are going to be hot items on the FA market, and the Colts’ will choose not to match (they’ll be able to afford atleast one of them, imo, but that goes against their MO)

by Nideak on Dec 10, 2008 2:31 PM EST up reply actions

Kelvin Hayden will be re-signed. Write it down.

Seconded

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Marlin go after next year, but I think they keep Kelvin. I think a good argument can be made that Kelvin is the 3rd most important player on this D (Freeney and Bob in top two spots).
