Since We're Giving Out Fantasy Advice

I am in the championship in two different leagues. Both are ten team leagues, and I have had the highest points so far in both leagues. Some of my players have tough matchups this week. We play 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs/TEs, 1 DF, 1 K. Here's my roster.

QB - Aaron Rodgers, Jason Campbell

RB - Adrian Peterson, Thomas Jones, DeAngelo Williams, Chester Taylor

WR/TE - Andre Johnson, Steve Smith (CAR), Roddy White, Marvin Harrison, Devin Hester

Team DF - Bears, Panthers

K - Joe Nedney, Jason Hanson

My biggest concern is Tomas Jones or DeAngelo Williams (as I'm going to start Peterson). I am also a little uncertain about the Bears over the Panthers. Any advice?

Jones over Williams

Thomas Jones has the Seahawks D which has been awful while DeAngelo has the Giants D which is very good.

No opinion on the Ds, they seem pretty even.

Thanks.

That’s where I have been leaning, but Williams has been a force lately.

Jones hasn't been bad himself

he’s quietly leading the AFC in yards.

Jones over Williams. Jones doesn’t split as many carries as that duo in Carolina.

Good point.

Leon Washington steals some carries, but not like Stewart does from Williams.

Amazing Team

You’ll win no matter who you start. This reminds me of my team early in the year. Cutler at QB, Peterson, Larry Johnson, and Jamal Lewis at running back, Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal at WR. It was a great team that fell apart quickly.

are you playing in a

4 team league?

i go deangelo in primteime on SNF… he is a beast and hes consistent…

Lol

Ten teams. I’m not talented/patient enough to enjoy those 16 team leagues, so ten or twelve works for me.

My opponent is starting Philip Rivers, Tomlinson, Matt Forte, Reggie Wayne, Jason Witten, Lance Moore, Ravens and Ryan Longwell.

He and I were the first and second picks in the snake draft. It again advocates my theory that it is best to hold the top draft spot. It seems like every year in both my leagues, the person who drafted first (provided they weren’t clueless or unlucky with injuries) finished very strong. Second isn’t bad either.

I would take Jones over Williams based purely on the matchup. As Shake said, Panthers and Bears are pretty evenly matched so you can’t go wrong with either of them.

by TouchdownMonkey on Dec 18, 2008 4:26 PM EST reply actions

Yeah

I’m leaning towards the Bears because they have scored more in our points system than the Panthers, plus they are at home while the Panthers are on the road.

I was only worried that the Giants could be held in check and forced into turnovers easier than the Packers. Especially after the last Giants showing. But I definitely tend to favor the Bears.

Yours seems to be the consensus on the RBs. Thanks.

One more question

In my other league I start three WRs as well. I have Andre Johnson and Steve Smith (Car) in that league as well. The difference is my third option. Bernard Berrian, Braylon Edwards (who I made a midseason trade for), or Anthony Gonzalez.

What think you?

by coltsfanawalt on Dec 18, 2008 5:12 PM EST reply actions

whichever of Berrian-Edwards has scored more points

Both ATL and CIN are giving up nearly the same numbers to #1 WRs, which is much more than the Jags are giving up to #2s.

Go with the better Quarterback

Which is Jackson over Dorsey. Who’d have thunk it, huh? Berrian is the play here.

by mgrex03 on Dec 18, 2008 6:04 PM EST up reply actions

Go figure

we’d ever say such a thing about Tavaris Jackson =p

by coltsfanawalt on Dec 18, 2008 6:39 PM EST up reply actions

Ditto

I agree with the others – take Berrian. Edwards has cracked 100 yds only twice this season (I believe). Plus, Vikings play at home (dome) so there’s no weather concerns. Cleveland will probably be cold and windy (even flurries) for the game, which will hinder aerial attacks.

Rather then create another fan post...

I’d also like some advice with some of my selections:

QB – Aaron Rodgers, Tony Romo

RB – Joseph Addai, Matt Forte, Ryan Grant, Pierre Thomas

WR – Antonio Bryant, Vincent Jackson, Eddie Royal, Deion Branch (As you can see losing Buress left me pretty thin at WR)

TE – Dallas Clark

K – Stephen Gostkowski

DST – Packers, Cowboys

My biggest questions are who to start at, RB (Haven’t started Addai so he’s out of the question) and WR (Going with Bryant and Jackson to start, can’t decide out of Royal and Branch)? I’m thinking of going with Rodgers at QB but if anyone’s got any reason’s why I should start Romo instead let me know.

Cheers

I'd go Rodgers, Royal and Thomas/Forte

Rodgers has the softer D, 10th vs 1st in Pass D DVOA

Royal is facing a slightly softer pass D and I believe he’s been better so far.

Thomas plays the Lions

Forte is a go because the Packer run D is bad. Grant is a no-go because the Bears run D is good.

Rodgers
Forte, Thomas
Royal, Bryant
Cowboys defense

Do you not have a flex spot? If you do try to pick up Tashard Choice. If he isn’t available play Grant.

isn’t MB3 healthy?
