Peyton MANning how to stop?

Hey guys and gals,

Just quietly, exactly what would you think is the perfect one liner to say to all those who were saying that this guy was over the hill in week 4? Apparently he was too old and not the same Peyton Manning.

Well 6th come from behind victories, 23 completed passes IN A ROW! and reviving this team is not only MVP material but also bragging material for us Indy fans.

On a related note, exactly who can stop us right now? In the AFC? Titans, they lost to Houston. We beat the Steelers and the Ravens and Chargers. The Jets? Doubt it. Miami? No. Denver? You think Cutler can beat Peyton in a shootout?

What about the NFC? Couple of threatening teams, but luckily we only face them in the late stages.

So who would it be?

NYG, Dallas, Vikings, Arizona (lol), Carolina.

I don't think they can beat the Colts in a straight up match in the superbowl so i think we are a real contender (which we all know) so what do you say? 3 superbowls going to wildcard contenders in 4 years? 2 superbowls in 3 years?

Fingers Crossed.

Re:

The titans are by far the toughest match up we have in the AFC. They have definitely improved from last year. That’s obvious, but I can see Collins choking when it matters. He’s did very well so far, but he’s gonna slip, and it’s gonna be at the most critical time. When we play Tennessee in the playoffs we can’t have any turnovers, and we need to throw to our backs in the flats. Their defense looks weak there. Also, we need to toss in a few screens; just to keep em honest. In the NFC the Giants and Panthers are the only teams that are able to get on us. I think we can shut Steve Smith down. He might get close to a hundred yards, but whatever. That’s not gonna win them the game. We beat the Panthers bad last year. I mean bad. The Giants and Colts. The sound is beautiful! I’m excited to see how this all plays out.

I'm most nervous about

Pittsburgh and Baltimore. Those teams have wicked defenses and adequate enough offenses. I don’t think my heart can stand another performance by our D like the one they turned in for most of last night (the obvious plays – pick-six and sacks – notwithstanding).

I can’t offer detailed statistical evidence or insightful football analysis… this is a gut feel.

I’m not bothered about Pittsburgh, surprisingly enough. Yeah, they play hard and tough but they’re a soft matchup offensively and their O-line can be had. The Ravens are even more inept on offense.

No, it’s the Titans I’m most worried about. Not because I think Kerry Collins is going to pass us to death, but because that running game can gash us time and time again and keep our offense off the field, and their D is good enough to take away Manning’s options.

I’m not particularly concerned about anyone in the NFC – the Panthers have a great ground attack but Delhomme’s a liability under pressure, and their defense isn’t as good as the Titans. The Giants were shown up by the Steelers and without Burress to gameplan for, their soft in the air and their running game is banged up. If we can get to the Superbowl, I fancy our chances.

Too Early

Dreaming is cool, but it’s too early to worry about the NFC, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, or Tennessee. Gotta take care of Denver/SD first. I don’t think it matters which teams we’ve beaten and which teams we haven’t. Nothing matters in the playoffs except that one particular game you are playing in. We’ve learned this the hard way several times.

I'm not afraid of anyone

Unlike last year with the Chargers and Pats and 2006 with the Chargers, I don’t fear any team right now. There is no one I see and say, “Dear lord I hope they don’t play us.” We beat Pittsburgh at Heinz. We embarrassed the Ravens and made Flacco our bitch. We are a better team than the Titans, Jets, Dolphins, and Pats. I fear no one.
