MVP

I am fine with Manning being MVP.
I would like to point out that the last 8 weeks the Colts SOS is pretty low. I dont want to look up the exact numbers…so I will let you do it.

Football Outsiders

Stats are opponent adjusted. But I agree, the last 8 weeks have been pretty easy. They’ve played crappy teams like the Jaguars, Lions, Bengals, Steelers and Patriots. The last 9 have actually been against crappy teams, but the colts slipped up 9 games ago.

Shake

I mentioned this in my fanpost: Who is that ben riley homo? Like seriously, he has an anti-colts bug up his anal oraphace…

Don't know much better than you

the main 3 guys are Schatz, Barnswell and Tanier, I like all 3. The rest are all just generic FO writer to me.

Kurt Warner is out of it

There’s no way on this earth Warner could muster even his mother’s support after his play on Sunday. The big downer is that the Cards have been deflating over the season, while Manning has steadily improved. No contest in the MVP race. (I still can’t believe Brady isn’t even being considered though. So what if he’s been injured, is there a rule against that or something???)

Keep the faith!

He'll get some votes from ESPN people

Don’t worry

that would be pretty funny

I’d bet my booties that Mr. Grizzled Veteran himself, the great and powerful Favre, will get a couple votes too. And highly undeserved.

HIGHLY undeserved.

I can’t believe he got into the Pro Bowl…

Or

Or they’ll pick another 6th round pick. I came to the realization the hate of Manning stems from the true underdog story. Nobody likes a #1 pick that lives up to expectations.

You want evidence? Go up to someone that isn’t a Colts fan and start talking about Manning. Their face looks like they smelled dirty socks or anything else nasty you can think of. Now go up and mention the names Ryan Leaf, Tim Couch, David Carr (we’ll have to wait on Alex Smith and JaMarcus Russel but I can see it coming). If they weren’t drafted by their teams, their eyes light up and you can start seeing them trying to hold back and you know they’re just thinking “BWAHAHAHA, my team might be BAD but at least we weren’t fooled by taking a QB bust!”. Don’t even follow up after you say their names, just randomly put them out there and watch.

Now go up to them and mention the names Tom Brady, Doug Flutie, Kurt Warner, Warren Moon and their face lights up like they smell fresh baked cookies. I’m not saying any of them are bad, but seriously, people HATE players that are supposed to do well succeed. It’s human nature.

The last two times they gave him the MVP, and it’ll probably happen this year, I just see all the sportswriters sitting around with scowls on their faces going “NOBODY?! We couldn’t find ANYBODY better than him AGAIN? FINE!!!” Then walk out and go rub some ointment on Tom Brady’s knee and coo him to sleep saying “Next year Manning, we’ll get you NEXT year! Bwahahahaha!”

Don’t ask me why I envision sportswriters as Mumrar from Thundercats or Dr. Claw “I’ll get you next time Gadget!”. It’s just how I roll. And for some reason Peter King keeps popping into my head when I think about MVP voters.

Peter King

SAYS his vote is with Peyton – possibly to avoid death threats…who knows how he will really vote, though?

Great post, btw.

You know who reminds me of Peyton?

Tim Duncan. Even though his numbers aren’t what they used to be, he’s still playing at a high level just like Peyton this season. He’s also considered to the be the greatest power foward of all time, but no one really talks about him like they do Kobe, LeBron, and others because Duncan has been consistent his entire career, like Peyton has. We expect Peyton to have about 30 TDs and 4,000 yrds every season for the simple fact that he has done that for the majority of his career, just like Duncan has put up major numbers in all of the statistical categories since he’s been in the NBA. So to make a long story short, Peyton has been so consistent his entire career that everyone, both the fans and the media, except him to perform like this year season since he has done so since the beginning of his career. However, the adversities the he and the Colts have faced this season makes his performance even more special the previous seasons.
