NFL = no fun league

So apparently the NFL gets really cranky when the snow falls. First there was the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty called against Wes Welker for making a snow angel after scoring a touchdown. I'm guessing they called the snow a prop? So would that mean it's legal to pretend to make a snow angel if there isn't any snow, but if there is snow then it's a penalty?

Now, they've fined Shaun Ellis for throwing that big chunk of snow into the stands after the fans had been pelting his team with snowballs. Talk about no sense of humor!

I understand the fine

you can’t have players throwing stuff at fans. The fans were assholes and deserved it, but the players can’t be the ones taking care of it.

I think as part of the rule if a player celebrates in some fashion on the ground in any way other than to pray or whatever they’ll consider that excessive celebration.

KingRichard is right, the Welker fine is because he went to the ground.

And I can see why Ellis got fined I guess. There’s always going to be a problem with players interacting with the fans. But I really think that’s too bad. It was funny. I don’t have a problem with fans throwing snowballs, and I don’t have a problem with players throwing back. It’s all in good fun. However, again, I guess I can understand the penalty.

But, as much as I hate doing this, I have to defend the Patriot Welker. Going to the ground is illegal, but come on. It’s a snow angel. Get over it. The rules on celebrations are getting ridiculous now. The league-wide crackdown on everything is overall a good thing I think, especially with off the field behavior. But let the players have some fun.

I find it hilarious that they still feel

the hit on Brady was some illegal hit and conspiracy by the NFL to get at the Pats. However Vince Wilfork and Rodney Harrisson has never made a dirty hit in there lives

Let's go Colts!
