Around SBN: Ellenberger vs. Sanchez Heats Up, Hughes Talks Retirement

One day after DE Robert Mathis was awarded AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his play against the Browns, Dwight Freeney was awarded AFC DPoM. Freeney had 5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles in November. The Colts were 5-0 in that stretch. Again, both Dwight and Robert better get selected to the Pro Bowl. If they don't, then Colts players selected should PROTEST the Pro Bowl. There is no better DE tandem in football than Freeney and Mathis, and the deserve some Pro Bowl nods. I'm tired of seeing over-rated, chump players in Hawaii.

Awesome news and well-deserved. I loved hearing the stat during the game last week that since Mathis joined the team they have combined for 70 FF!!! No other team has as many from their top two fumble producers over that time. Also love that Mathis is #2 in sacks in Indy history already. Damn, sometimes I should not watch the balland just watch those two.
Plus, with a name like Robert, you can’t go wrong.

Best tandem??

I think you’re a tad bias in this situation… They aren’t even the best tandem in the division! Look, Freeney was a first round pick and Mathis was a 5th round pick (i think 5th round..) Two draft picks for your DEs? Look at what jacksonville has done: The tandem of Quentin Groves and Derrick Harvey took something lik 52 draft picks to acquire. Clearly 52 > 2. I understand that you have to slant things towards the Colts’, but you shouldn’t overlook the magnificent work that our division rivals do.

Oh, and one more thing..

KC Joyner from ESPN.com said something in one of his recent articles about Dwight Freeney…

It is a badge of honor when a pass rusher can get to the quarterback within three seconds, and Freeney has many sacks this year that happened in just over two seconds.

2 seconds to get to the QB? Thats faster than some people have sex!!!

I was just thinking about that.

It would be so wrong on so many levels.

All four special teams positions are led by Redskins — including punter Ryan Plackemeier, who joined the team midseason. Shawn Springs is the leading vote-getter at cornerback even though he hasn’t played but half the season.

Letting fans rig vote for the Pro Bowl automatically makes it a dud selection as far as meaning goes.
