Another Writer Overlooks Manning

For what feels like the 100th installment of my crusade around the leagues writers to find who is picking the right Manning for MVP, we come to Pat Kirwin.

To set the record I generally agree with the guy.He seemes Football smart so I posed the question to him that I wanted to confirm with him.

Jack , UK

Pat, Who is your MVP 14 weeks in?

Pat Kirwan, NFL.com

Jack, right now James Harrison leads the list on the defensive side of the ball. But of course we look to the offense for MVP most of the time. Eli Manning was my pick before Week 14. He had a bad game yesterday but I won't let that influence me. Based on the criteria, Where would his team be without him?, Eli, Kurt Warner and Drew Brees are right near the top. If I had time, I could also make a case for Adrian Peterson -- where would the Vikings be without him? Now surely if he was asked "what player makes a team" is there anyone but Sir Manning? Atleast he is using the right selection process, by looking at where teams would be without certain players. So thats another so called expert with a different opinion to the Stampede faithful!

Funny.

“Eli Manning…where would his team be without him?”..

That’s laughable. I mean, everyone here knows I love Eli, but really – what is this idiot thinking? Did ANYONE proofread his column before it was published? What an idiotic statement.

Kurt Warner – plays in the worst division in the league. ’Nuff said.

Drew Brees – needs more wins. Needs to be “the guy” to carry his team on his back. I haven’t seen that.

I can’t believe these guys get paid for some of the stuff they write.

I wanna...

Be the QB for a team that AVERAGES 160 yards rushing per game. Thats insane. Eli is getting better, but it seems like he’s still taking part in the december swoon. Drew Brees’ team won’t even make the playoffs, and will most likely finish 4th in his own division. How the heck can you be MVP when you can’t even get your team outta 4th place?

We’ve gone over Warner to death, doesn’t win games vs opponents with winning records, turns the ball over way too much, and isn’t putting up big numbers during the fantasy playoffs, when I need him most.
