Anybody got a Jones?

The Lions have released Kevin Jones.

http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/03/13/lions-announce-release-of-edwards-jones/

He's had two big injuries in the last two years (Lisfranc and ACL) and may not be ready for the start of the season. But when healthy he is a force, and he should come cheap at this point (if he doesn't, then obviously he's not an option). Keith/draft pick aside, anybody think he might be worth looking at? He's got good hands, and if he can have success behind the Lions line, then he should excel behind the Colts line.

I really don't know a lot about him, and I'm certainly not sold on him. But if he has a reasonable chance of regaining his health, he could be a valuable backup for a couple of years. And of course the flip side to the negative of the injuries is that he has a little less mileage on him.

that is my only concern
with Jones. His recent injuries have slowed him down and unless he is willing to take a low paying contract I wouldnt want to take that chance. The plus though is that he will take minimal punishment in our offense because he will play the role of change up back

I'd absolutely
welcome Jones into the fold, but I don't see it happening. Some other team will offer him more cash (like Dunn) and many others will be scared off by his injury history. That said, this is a guy who, when healthy, is one of the 10 most talented backs in the league. If we could pair him with Addai, we'd have a fantastic 1-2 combo. No chance of it happening, though. Too bad.

No way
Bill Polian wouldn't touch a player like that after the Corey Simon debacle.

If he's cheap
I think Polian would give it a shot

Simeon Rice anyone?

Corey Simon has probably prevented any future big free agent signings (especially if their malcontent FAs), but it didn't stop them from taking a low risk shot at a guy at a need position last year.

Simon Was A Different Story
He was a lard.  Jones is just injury prone and won't make 6 million a year like Simon.
