Booger is in Pittsburgh

It looks like the D-line rotation has taken another hit.

I had hoped the Colts would still be able to bring him back at a lower salary, since it didn't appear anyone else was showing any interest in him.  I would think that DL is definitely going to be a position that the Colts will invest a couple of draft picks in now.

Good luck in Pittsburgh (but not too good of luck!)

picks
i see us drafting maybe three DL, two DE and one DT.  We also could draft as many as three OL too, as it seems we are interested in a OG, OT and C.  Though knowing Dungy and Mudd, they will look for flexibility here so it could well be one or two.  We will also probably draft a RB, TE, WR, maybe a backup QB, and a S.  That's potentially 11 picks and we should have 11 total picks.  If we only pick two OL, I see us going for a LBer.

Not 11 picks
Probably 9 or 10.  6 regular and compensation for Cato June, Nick Harper, and Dominic Rhodes.  Doss could also be compensated for.

Well
According to the source quoted a few diaries back, we are expected to get 3 6th rounders. 1 7th rounder and they forgot about the possible 4th rounder we'll get for Jason David.  That's five compensatory.  That's 11 to me, but we'll possibly only have 10 if they don't think Doss is worth a pick for.

Confusing
Colts got the fourth rounder for David last season. With RFAs the players old team gets a draft pick from the players new team. Colts got the Saints 4th round pick last year and used it either on Brandon Condren or in the Ugoh trade (I can't tell from the draft history).

RFAs aren't part of compensatory picks

Of Course
There is still a chance we will get an RFA pick.  Matt Giordano (4th) and Dylan Gandy (4th) are still unsigned and they could go somewhere else.  Compensary picks are weird...

Wait
Was Utecht a UFA or RFA?  What about Scott?

by Bullard47 on Mar 27, 2008 1:23 AM EDT reply actions

Compensation
Scott was a UFA so Colts will get a compensatory pick for him next year. Utecht was a RFA, but they gave him the lowest contract offer so the Colts compensation is the round he was drafted in, Utecht was undrafted so they get nothing.
