Booger fails physical; not a Steeler

Quick news item: Reported reported yesterday that Booger McFarland signed with the Steelers. Turns out he didn't. He had an agreement with Pittsburgh, but seems to have failed their physical, nullifying the agreement. Booger failed his physical with Indy prior to getting cut a few weeks ago.

It seems Booger might not be fully healed from his knee injury in August of last year. I really hope Booger's career isn't over. He is one of the good guys in this NFL. I still hold out hope Indy will re-sign him and give him time to heal up if, indeed, he can still play.

Booger's career
Although he may be coming to the end of his career after his injury, even if he never plays again I can't feel sorry for him.   Here is a player who has earned good money, played for one of the best coaches in the league (Dungy)and has two superbowl rings.  I think a lot of NFL players would be happy to have the career he has.  Yes, it sucks to end a career with an injury, but I'd rather see that than the kind of pathetic spectacle some players like Jerry Rice have made of themselves.

Sign Him in August
If he can get healthy this spring and summer, he could be a good player for the money he would make.

Would love to have him back
But for a defensive lineman who has had that kind of significant injury and has now failed two physicals I wouldn't hold out much hope.  Given the leadership he showed for us in the superbowl run though, I wonder if they would try to bring him back in a coaching type of role.
