Freeney will be ready for Opener
I don't think it's necessary to write a huge story about this, but...
In case any of you were wondering, or disillusioned by the Injury reports coming from the Colts Complex, Dwight will "no doubt " be ready for the Colts opener at Lucas Oil stadium
"The bottom line, he reiterated, is a complete recovery is expected, which includes regaining his rare speed. The most recent battery of X-rays and magnetic resonance image tests confirmed "everything is perfect'' structurally, Freeney said."
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors.

Definition of ready
Is this going to be legitimately ready or Marvin Harrison ready?

He better be ready
because his injury was bad enough that I dont think it is worth the risk of losing him for longer

Not very convinced
Unless Freeney’s a super-fast healer. I checked with my wife, who’s an orthopaedic surgeon about the Lis Franc’s injury and she said it usually takes from 6 months to 18 months for somebody to fully heal from that injury depending on the severity of the damage. The combination of joints is what makes it so complicated.
But I guess an athlete at Freeney’s level would obviously have the great genes to make him a fast healer.

It took Kevin Jones a year
But Freeney is clearly a physical freak and he doesn’t even have to fall outside of the 6-18 month range to be ready for the opener.

My thoughts exactly
Athletes like Freeney who play at the highest level of the game have a very fast regeneration of tissues and have stronger bone structures compared to the rest of us mere mortals :)
Also we don’t know what is the extent of the injury as such details are never revealed to the public in pro sports.

Please ask the wife one more thing
What are the chances of reaggravating the injury? Especially if he plays all out like he did before he got hurt? No one’s asked that, but to me that’s the most important question.
Can he reliably play for an entire season without additional trouble to his feet?

:(
Unfortunately the answer from her is “I wouldn’t bet on the same level of athletic performance given that structural damage is done with an injury like that”. When I put it into context, apparently the hard turf on which the Colts play makes it only tougher and increases the probability of a re-injury . Freeney apparently also has a very good chance of having arthritis in that foot considering its a joint.
