2008 NFL Draft: Open Thread 3

The Titans taking Chris Johnson at #24 was the biggest reach, by far. All-in-all, there were 10 trades (10!!!) in the first round. The Chiefs had the best first round, easily.

This is another open thread. Looks like Brian Brohm is the first pick in round 2 for the Dolphins.

Scratch that, it's Phillip Merling.

Highest player left on my draft board.

That Parcells knows how to build a team.

Chiefs could have had an even better day...

I can’t believe they didn’t take the Saints’ offer…another second round pick, first round pick next year all to drop 5 spots?

Although as a Louisiana native and Saints fan I’m quite glad they didn’t…ridiculous that the Saints would offer that. Trading up to take Ellis was a much, much better pick.

Ok

It’s getting closer to our pick. I want Forte. If we take anyone else, I’ll be pissed. If we don’t take any RB at all, and let K2 be our 2nd guy next season, I’ll be VERY pissed.

Brandon Flowers?

I thought only the singer from the Killers was unlucky enough to have this name.

Amazing. The future is looking brighter in KC. Minnesota helped this cause, by the way.

Stokley

Is Brandon Stokely the only slot receiver whose name any of these analysts know? I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone use another slot receiver for comparison purposes.

DeSean Jackson

I know that it’s highly unlikely, but what happens if DeSean Jackson falls to the Colts? He would give the Colts that game-breaking returner and an absolute burner at WR. He would learn from the best in Harrison and Wayne.

The way that some of these guys have fallen is just phenomenal. I’m excited about our late 2nd round draft pick. What the hell?

honestly at this point

desean jackson wouldn’t be that bad of a pick

Our three best bets (johnson, laws and forte) are all off the board. we can get a TE and DE later in the draft. jackson would be great for returns and we don’t have any real needs so i’d be happy with him.

of course now that we’re talking about this im sure he’ll be taken ;)

I'm guessing Kevin Smith

As an OSU fan, I’d put a big no on Manningham, but that’s just me.

I love it, Eisen just said, “And we welcome the Indianapolis Colts to the NFL draft when we come back.”

Huh?

A center? With a 2nd round pick?

Oh well. In Polian we trust.

Bob Sanders eats a forest on Friday so he can lay the wood on Sunday.

What?

Does this mean Saturday is gone after this contract?

Mayock

says he can play some guard, and they showed him pulling on plays from the C position. I’m guessing he could be a starter this year.

I hope he knows something we don't.

I was really hoping for a RB or TE. But IPWT, right?

Also, I’m still ticked about the NFLN not showing the Colts pick.

Polian

strikes again. No one saw this coming. Did anyone even suggest this guy in a mock draft…

He may be listed at center but I bet he will be in as a guard in the lineup this year.

The one comment that pops out on the nfl network is that he is a smart positional player… Polian likes smart players..

Typically

The more baffling the pick, the better it turns out to be. In that sense it was a brilliant move.
