2008 NFL Draft: Colts select TE Jacob Tamme at pick #127
WR Arman Shields went off the board at pick #125. So, the Colts selected TE Jacob Tamme out of Kentucky. FINALLY! Someone I did a profile for was drafted. Woo-hoo! Problem is I didn't select Tamme in my mock. Oh well. This is your new open thread.

yeah thats my thinking
maybe with one of those 6th rounders since we have 4 if hes still there.
im just not sold on tamme as a second tight end. he’ll be a great special teamer and maybe can learn to block but probably not in his first couple of years. haynos would give us a solid blocker who could play his rookie year
I've got an idea for next year
We need to do write-ups on a bunch of players the Colts do not want, but every other team will think we want them, and the guys we do want will still be there for our picks.
This is the first time I’ve seen so many guys on the Colt’s radar go just picks before ours. It’s frustrating.

Campell
as a member of the Armed Services, Campell should do his duty to his country first. He signed a contract with the United States FIRST. He has a responsibility and he is letting down his fellow service members by not doing his duty first.
are you listening to any of this?
He didn’t make the call, the US Army did. They feel he’d serve them better as a role model and recruiter than as one more soldier in Iraq.
He IS serving the Army either way, in whatever role they deem best.
suprisingly intact

everyone is still there
I think this is where we take a DE, unless Mike Hart is still there, then I wouldn’t mind seeing him taken.
Of course, with Oakland taking mcfadden yesterday, maybe they’ll release rhodes and we can pick him up
yes i am, it's total BS
Why is he so special that he can change his contract? He signed a contract saying that for X amount of years he would go to Cadet school, become an officer, and then do his original job.
There are so many other kids that do not want to go to Iraqi but has to. Why is he special? Cuze he can throw a football? Or because the Army isn’t making their recruiting goals and so they are letting him be a “superstar” of the Army so that more kids will join?
Some Army of One.
Cadets can serve in many ways
A good majority of cadets who attend West Point, or the Naval Academy, never see combat overseas. There are many jobs, in many different countries, including the US. He’s still going to be serving his country. It just won’t be in theater, which is similar to many other classmates of his.
well
If he can get just five guys to join the Army who normally wouldn’t have, I would say he has fulfilled his role in a much bigger way than he could as one man in Iraq or elsewhere.
The Army needs recruits, and here they’re seeing an opportunity to boost their numbers.
I don’t see why you have such a problem with this. He did sign a contract, that said he’d fulfill his duty to the Army. The army says they want him to do this, and he does it. Sounds like he’s fulfilling his obligation to me?
I didn't like him
Physical freak, inconsistent effort
That’s the story of just about every DT bust in NFL history

I'm really starting to like Kellen Davis
Looks to be a good blocker and has good hands and speed. Character issues seem to be what is holding him back along with concerns on effort. I don’t know if the Colts looked at him but if they feel they can get 100% from him, he’d be a great second TE
But we already got a TE
And who is Mike Hart?

and as for TEs
Tamme and Davis fill two totally different roles. They’d both be listed as TE’s and they’d both play offense but that’s about where the similarities end. Haynos would be another option. Tamme got terrible ratings on blocking.
hopefully that's a joke
hey, the NFL network says that the Colts have #161 and #162. did we pull a trade while I was asleep?
I also blog at Speed Blue Nation
I think that
the charges will take Mike Heart
ESPN.com doesn't have the trade
and they’ve been pretty well on top of it so far
my blog http://shakennbaken.blogspot.com
they can't trade compensary picks
so unless it was 6th+7th-->5th idk whah they did

ESPN still doesn't have it

Probably its the 6th and seventh
with three 6th rounders i would not be to surprised if we got 162 by trading our 6th and 7th
YEAAAAAAAH!!!!
