Colvin Brought in for a Physical

According to NFL Network, the Colts recently brought in Roosevelt Colvin for a physical and he passed. Dungy says he is impressed with Colvins ability and would like him on the team if we can get the finances worked out.

Hopefully we can get him inked and in a Colts Uniform. This would fill our hole at pass rusher completely and create versatility since Colvin has some coverage skills.

Well

That takes away a defensive end spot. Our defensive line is insanely deep now.

I seriously hope the Colts don’t sign him. I despise Colvin and his retarded antics.

Go Colts!

He can play

and getting a little carried away with the celebrations isn’t enough for me to dismiss a guy that could help the team.

He can’t be worth too much considering Belichick cut him.

Because he was hurt

and making starters money. If he’ll take a contract that reflects his role (a backup) and his health (old and coming of a season ending injury) there’s no legitimate reason not to sign him at least for camp.

Curtis Johnson

This signing would kill Johnson’s hopes for a roster spot.

It would definately end the Wheeler at DE talk

Unless they think Dawson is ready to be Josh Thomas, Curtis Johnson likely gets bumped off the roster. Since he was undrafted there’s a decent chance the Colts could keep him on their practice squad.

don't do it

come on, i already had to get over this whole vinatieri hating a few years ago. this is asking a lot of us colts’ fans and our hatred of the patriots..

Difference

Colvin is much worse than Vinatieri from a Colts fan stance. When I heard the Colts signed Vinny, I was very excited to say the least. He is the best kicker in NFL history. Colvin is a jackass and a backup. Of course, he would be our jackass and backup, which changes everything.

The celebratory jackassery is just what some guys do

I’ve heard some hate for Bob Sanders because he likes to strut and flex and jump around after a big play. He even had the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the playoff game (I know it was his college teammate, but you still can’t do that). The difference between acting like a jackass and pumping up the crowd is determined by which team your rooting for.

Spiking the Ball on the Opposing Team's Logo

Crosses the line of pumping up the crowd all the way into douchebaggery.

It's dumb

and I hope he never does anything like it again if he signs with the Colts, but not wanting a player who can help the team because he got carried away with the celebrations and acted like an ass once is insane. I want the Colts to win, as long as they play by the rules I don’t care if a few guys are jackasses (with tolerated Vanderjagt, didn’t we?).

If we can forgive and welcome a guy that drove drunk and pissed his pants in a squad car, I think he can accept a guy that got a bit overexcited during a game.

Yeah well there are two problems with your argument:
1. Dominic Rhodes helped the team win a Super Bowl, and aside from his DUI he had nearly an immaculant record. Not to mention his personality was ace. So technically, there was no need to forgive Rhodes for anything. His accident didn’t affect the Colts at all. That was on him, and was punished accordingly.

2. The Colts were just waiting for the right time to cut Vanderjact (re: Vinatieri signing). The only reason he was tolerated was for the simple fact that he could have been the difference between a win and a loss (though he was the reason for the latter more often than the former…sigh)

Colvin isn’t going to start, he is going to be a roleplayer. To be completely honest, I don’t think he is even good enough to make the team, let alone worth wasting the Colts money on when they could spend it on some of the younge guys on the team.

The visual of him spiking the ball on the Colts logo will never leave my memory and I will forever hate him for his actions. So much for an “Indy born and raised.” That bastard!

Go Colts!

I’d like to add that I understand your logic, and agree with you. I want what is best for the team too. However, the Colts could be just as good, if not better off without this tool.

Go Colts!

I Think We Can All Agree

That we all want whatever makes the Colts get ahead of the pack. However, I would prefer Curtis Johnson over Colvin. Johnson is just as good as Colvin as a defensive end. With Marcus Howard, we don’t need to pay too much for another rush end. However, this signing seems inevitable, so we will just have to wait and see. In Polian We Trust.

Curtis over Colvin?

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.. After all Colvin has proven to be a capable player, and even though he has been slowed – significantly – by injuries, I still think it is a bald statement that Curtis Johnson should be a better player after training camp.

He is an intriguing guy, but he was still passed up for 255 players in the draft, so he can’t be all too great.

However I understand if the colts would carry him on the roster just for the sake of his potential..
