[UPDATE] Confirmed: Indianapolis Colts very close to signing RB Dominic Rhodes

Tip to raynman for giving us the heads up: NFL Network's Adam Shefter is reporting the Colts and Dominic Rhodes are close to an agreement that will bring RB Dominic Rhodes back to the Colts. Shefter says Rhodes spoke with the Colts, wants to return to Indy, and an agreement is close.

Looks like Dom is coming back to Indy. This is a very good thing, folks. The more depth at RB, the better. Rhodes ran all over teams in the 2006 playoffs, including 113 yards and a TD in Super Bowl 41.

UPDATE: Ok, it's pretty close to confirmed, via Adam Shefter. Welcome back, Dom.

Cerberus

Addai, Rhodes, and Hart? It’s almost too good to be true.

Our backfield is going to be nicknamed Cerberus.

First to bring up the idea at least, not that he was definitely coming back.

Hahahaha

It’s funny how excited I am that he is coming back, but I did not like him when he was here. Ah what the hell, Welcome Back Dom!!!

Yeah, I remember the conversation we had when I mentioned the idea a while ago. =P

Yep

I didn’t like his lack of big play ability, but the Colts proved they don’t need that at running back.

Addai, Rhodes, Hart. That is unbelievably scary. Take 2006 except Joseph Addai is now a Pro Bowler, Dominic Rhodes is in the backup role, where he can be more productive, and a new rookie who could be a steal. This could be one of the better backfields in the league.

He’s still probably the 3rd best back on the team, unless Keith gets das boot. Depth is never a bad thing though, and he was a serviceable return guy as well.
