Latest on Patriots Taping
Pretty interesting read to be honest. I can't wait to see the extra punishment Goddell dishes out now. Hahahah, sucks to be Belichick and Robert Kraft!

You know I couldn't resist...
Just to be clear, Goodell has already stated the punishment handed down to the Patriots and Belichick was for the totality of Belichick’s career with the Patriots:
Goodell explained that the league’s penalty against the Patriots early last season was for the totality of the team’s videotaping actions, and that coach Bill Belichick acknowledged he had videotaped opposing signals since the start of his Patriots head coaching career.
No Rams’s tape, no more punishment. The above quote was conveniently left out of the New York Times article, but quoted in the Boston Globe article which, I’m sure, everyone here will trust implicitly ;-).

But if these are copies of tapes that the Pats didn't turn over
When they were ordered to turn over all of them. They’ll get nailed for lying to the commissioner.
Also the Boston Herald is saying that Walsh isn’t their unnamed source for the Rams walkthrough tape story.

Fair points
Hopefully, when Belichick said he turned over all the tapes, he really did. And you are correct on the Boston Herald story; they’ve never claimed Walsh was the source of a Rams’s walkthrough tape, but it came out at the same time as Walsh’s set of tapes and the media frenzy that ensued lumped everything together. As a raving Pats homer, I’m hoping Belichick’s denial of taping the walkthrough is true. I gotta believe he’s not going to put Kraft in the hot seat again; Bob only has so much patience. At least I’m hoping this is the case.

Don't you get mad?
I mean, the Patriots have been a great team for a long time. They did not need this crap to be a great team in the first place, and I really think they would have won just as many SB without this (or at least 2 SB’s). So, as a Patriots fan, don’t you get mad for Belichick doing this crap while he didn’t need to?

I guess...
...I don’t know how to feel about it. Anger at the crap my team and fans were put through. Relief that it’s almost over. Frustrated with BB. It’s a jumble of emotions, to be honest. Maybe it’s a little like your kid brother getting thrown in the slammer. You might be willing to provide support during a difficult time, but shaking your head at what happened. This may be a bad comparison, but if the allegations against Harrison turn out to have legs, how would/should Colts fans feel?

I'd feel bad about Harrison
He still is my definition of a nice guy. Well, at least as far as football players go. He’s tough, he’s dedicated to the game, he gave us a lot, and all those other things. I suppose that would be like your frustration with Belichick. A little different, but I can relate. I’ve been through that when Mo Vaughn was mentioned in the Mitchell Report. Maybe it was hard to believe he didn’t use it at any point of his career, but he was my idol during my Fenway years.

No lie
The Patriots told the truth to the commissioner, in that they handed over all the tapes they had or knew about. Seems Matt Walsh was a thief as well as a weasel. The Boston Herald needs to print some sort of explanation to their readers as to how they could have been so wrong. Don’t think it will ever happen, but I’d really love to know how compelling the “evidence” was from the “unnamed source” that it sold John Tomase into writing the story in the first place.

hahaha
That’s comedy gold right there. Yeah, how dare you “steal” video tapes that were illegally filmed from a team that was caught for cheating Matt Walsh! For shame!
Give me a friggin break. The last person in the world you should be pissed at is Matt Walsh. He isn’t the one who came up with the idea, or told people to illegally film teams.

More tapes
If the NFL made a deal to get these tapes, it must be something they haven’t seen before. My understanding was that the material turned over was only from the Jets game where they were actually caught. I can’t see where the penalty already applied was for more than just the 2007 season. They had no evidence before that this was standard operating procedure for the pats – especially against division rivals.. The commissioner if he is coming down hard on players will HAVE to do something – to Belichick at least in order to maintain any kind of credibility… Both with the players, other owners and most importantly the fans…

The NFL made the deal
to satisfy the league, the fans, the media, and Sen. Specter that an investigation was indeed taking place, even though they felt that Walsh had nothing more than what Belichick had already admitted to doing – taping signals. I don’t think anyone was surprised, except maybe Kurt Warner, that a tape of the 2002 Rams Super Bowl walk-through practice NEVER happened and doesn’t exist. Warner is going to have to look elsewhere to place the blame for his struggles since then.

Doesn't look there's much behind the Rams walkthrough story
It apparently didn’t meet ESPN’s standards to run. ESPN will run anything as we’ve seen with the Marvin story, so there can’t be much to the Herald’s story.
I’m disappointed.
Or ESPN is wrong again and the Herald has real evidence that they don’t. (crossing my fingers).

Walsh
Again folks, Walsh has yet to meet with Goodell. After that meeting, we will have a better idea of what all the hush-hush crap is about. Regardless of this outcome, the incident has damaged Bill Belichick’s reputation and tarnished the once proud legacy of the New England Patriots. That, in and of itself, might be punishment enough.
Also, New England could have used that extra first round pick this year. Their defense gets older and slower by the second, and Laurence Maroney is not a reliable RB.

I'm curious...
...how 6 out of our 7 draft picks (WR Matt Slater has converted to safety) going to the defense equates to older and slower. And I haven’t even got into UFAs. Now, I would agree they most likely will not be 100% productive day one, but I think older and slower by the second is not entirely accurate.
You are correct about Maroney and he’s certainly no Addai. Personally, I like Sammy Morris, but he can be a bit fragile. Kevin Faulk is best utilized on short pass plays.

Who is the least experienced starter on their D?
I’ve been under the impression it takes quite a while in the system more Belichick trusts a guy to get it right.

CB Ellis Hobbs
At 25, he’s the youngest starter, but I’m doing this from memory; I’d have to back and look.

As I said at Pat's Pulpit,
I’ll be glad to have this over and done soon. If there is new info, punish it appropriately and let’s move on. If there is nothing there or nothing that hasn’t been addressed, let it go and let’s move on. Either way, I want to get back to just enjoying the greatest sport on earth, football. It’s a game where chess-like strategy meets meets smash-mouth implementation. Pats and Colts games have been classics. Of course the best one was in January of ‘07=p
Any wrong doing should be appropriately addressed, and it may have been already; there may be more, and there may not be. We will see. Once it’s properly dealt with, it should be moved past.

As much as I’d like to agree with both of you, there’s a slight problem. Real football doesn’t start for another 3 1/2 months. We have to talk about something. =P
