RCA Dome, Lucas Oil Stadium on Google Earth

Sports blog Awful Announcing put up a post about one of my favorite timewasters, Google Earth ( http://awfulannouncing.blogspot.com/2008/06/google-earth-now-providing-360-degree.html ).  There's a plug-in available now that features 3D models of major league sports arenas and some college arenas right on the maps.  You might want to go check out the RCA Dome while it's still there.

Here's what you'll find in Indy.  You can also see Conseco Fieldhouse in the background.

Just thought I'd share.

I See

Judging by the window being gray, this must be when every shower in the stadium is on, fogging up the entire building.

Speaking of Lucas Oil, I found out an interesting tidbit about the stadium. They were thinking about making it expandable for baseball but scratched that idea, however, it still is expandable to fit soccer. For a huge soccer fan like me, that’s probably the best news I’ve gotten in a long time. I can’t wait until August when the stadium opens.

good, I hate football on a baseball infield

It looks bad an more importantly really sucks to play on.

But

Since Lucas Oil is a FieldTurf stadium, it wouldn’t make a big difference. It would be like the Metrodome’s and not like the Dolphins Stadium (which looks horrible).
