Lawton traded to the Eagles for a conditional draft pick
I guess this means Polian really likes the new guys

That's the second Colt
they’ve picked up this offseason to try at fullback. They signed Klecko to try him as a blocking back.

I think this is a clear sign that the Klecko to FB experiment hasn’t worked…

Odd
They are using Klecko as a FB, not a DT, in Philly. Now they get Klecko? This pretty much guarnatees Mike Hart is the new FB (aka, new James Mongro).

My Take

We might get a draft pick out of a player that probably would have been cut in training camp anyways.
BBS is probably right. Hart=Mungro. Catching passes and being a change of pace back. I love our backs this year. Our running game is going to be great.

Lorenzo Neal
Just read that Lorenzo Neal is still available. Surprising that they wouldn’t try signing him instead of trading for Lawton (though that gives us a draft pick so I can’t complain). Neal had an injury issue last year and he’s aging, but he still seems to have a few years left. Not to mention that he had a string of 200-some-odd consecutive games before the injury.

Neal doesn’t fit. The Eagles really don’t use a traditional lead blocking type FB. They look for pass catchers, special teams guys, and basically bigger RBs to fill that role. Thomas Tapeh, who they let go this offseason after playing FB last year, was a converted RB.
They’re kind of like the Colts in that regard, although not to the degree of never using a FB.
