Vikings/Colts

I just recieved my tickets for the vikings - colts game on August 14.  The second week of the season, the vikings home opener.  I know it's a long ways off, but since there's nothing else to talk about, how does everyone feel about this matchup.  The vikings are starting to look like a super bowl contender and the addition of Jared Allen this year just scares me.  It looks like to me if we can just hold off that beast of a line we should handle them no problem.

Super Bowl Contender?

not with Jackson at QB. Unless Tavaris suddenly becomes NFL caliber, defenses will go all out to shut down AP/Taylor.

Stranger things have happened. See Ravens, Baltimore – Circa 2000.

Keep in mind that although the saying is that to win in the playoffs you need to run the ball and stop the run, you actually need to pass the ball and stop the pass as well, something the Vikings haven’t exactly been proficient in doing.

However, Jared Allen is a definite upgrade. Can’t say the same for their WR corps or their QB though.

I knew

someone would mention Baltimore. However, even with the addition of Jared Allen, do you think this Viking defense is as good as that Raven defense?

Good game

Yeah, the Vikings look pretty nasty this year, IF Jackson can develop into a half way decent NFL caliber quarterback. This game should be a tough one for the horse, but, at the end of the day, the Vikings are an NFC team, and Peyton often seems to have his way with NFC teams.

The Vikings defense

was already good, and now they have Allen. They have an unbelievable offensive line that helps Adrian Peterson, Chester Taylor or Mickey Mouse look better. Bernard Berrian is a decent addition in the area where they need the most help. If they get anything from the passing game, they will be fearsome.

They will contend for the NFC North title, a division that apart from Detroit is getting tough. It’s a very strong defensive division. I think the Vikings are capable of winning it. Too bad they’ll have to lose their home opener…

You mean a guy

who couldn’t complete 60% of his passes at the D-II level isn’t going to suddenly figure out how to be a good, accurate passer in the NFL.

They'd be better off

with his brother Tito.

They are overrated.

They have no QB and their secondary is still suspect. Teams will still pass all over them.
