Remain calm.
Peyton had a little knee surgery today, but never fear! It was only a minor operation. He may miss the first few weeks of training camp, but recovery time from this operation is 4-6 weeks, so he'll be back in plenty of time for the regular season.
I repeat, remain calm. It's not like he throws with his knees anyways.

We'll get to see what Sorgi can do with 1st string talent
The HOF game is in less than 3 weeks (Aug 3). 4-6 Weeks recovery would have him ready for 0-2 preseason games.

looks like the jag fans are thinking they have a real shot now. not saying this isnt something to worry about but I suspect peyton who is as tough as any football player of today, will be ready and prepared come opening day. seems cat country and all the rest of the jag fans, much like there….more proof their team isnt leaving…yeah right, dream on that too, there as good as gone in a couple of years, that their dreams of peyton manning hurt and comparing it to harrison is ….if we write it on our blog, it will become true or it will go away.
I admire stampede blue for not writing garbage of other teams for the sole purpose of hoping ones situation is exaggerated for the sake of covering their own bad news of arrested recievers and their team about to leave. yes anything about peyton and his demise would give one hope I can imagine when you are always outside looking in
peyton manning has had this knee problem into the playoffs last year. in fact stampede blue were the only writers who actually noticed it back then with a pic of peytons bubbled up knee. I actually think this was a bit of a problem before the season ended but it never stopped him nor will it stop him in the future of missing any games.
the jags would love for this to be a problem but the only problem they have is their own. and thats alot.

I noticed this. Plenty of Bears fans I have seen online do not think this is a big deal and they are our first opponent.
Of course AFC rivals will think its huge. They can dream. Any excuse will be used, it’s the offseason so why not. Manning’s biggest weapon though is his brain. And he will probably be more prepared than ever to start the year mentally.
I hate injuries but like I said we will see who is laughing when the season is over. I want this team to get stronger as the year goes on not weaker like last season.

I hear 4 to 6 weeks. But, knowing Manning and his history it will be less than people expect. He should not rush back though.
It sounds pretty minor to me. But, still scary because it’s Manning.
It never hurts though to develop more backup depth behind him. But, I hate to see him miss time with the new guys.
I have no doubt he will be ready to go soon enough. This is not the same as what happened with Marvin. His knee ruptured and it just kept getting worse and worse. There was also actual structural damage. And his other knee was banged up too.
Of course this means that people will count the Colts out this year. But, I would would rather be healthier in January than July.
Keep in mind it’s his left knee that was hurt. His right leg is his plant leg and thats fine.
But, a boring and depleted first half of TC it shall be.

quote…Let’s be clear. When the Jaguars defeat the Colts, it’s better for them to do so with Freeney, Sanders, Manning and everyone else at full health.
when? I love that! cocky as ever. dont be surprised with all the turmoil of the jags they finish 8-8. and then they can write about beating the colts as the purpled LA jags the following year. they always say jax is a college town and that is a college statement
Let’s be clear. When the Jaguars defeat the Colts,
this isnt the georgia game. its pro. there are 16 games and why the colts are the champions of the division over and over. they know it takes more than one game to win a division
bob sanders doesnt care what uniform you wear. oh and ps…hes not hurt. you wish! just like peyton. you wish!

Wow, talk about missing the point.
I go out of my way to make a point that the Manning injury/surgery is nothing to get excited about and you guys STILL get all crazy. I think you’ll find that I’ve never advocated or “cheered” an injury.
What does “Georgia” game have to do with anything? What’s the difference between a college statement and an NFL one?
In a division where the four teams are all pretty good (you’re flying blind if you think the AFC South is the Colts and three garbage teams), one game could very well be the difference. There’s only six division games, not 16, so your argument is a little off base.
Sometimes you guys are impossible to please. Not that it’s important to me, but I wanted to make a “statement” that the Manning Surgery was a non-issue. Yet somehow that turns into “whining”.

yes this is NOT like harrisons. and you said it hellokitty. manning biggest weapon is his brain. unlike some other teams players
Im actually relieved this happened. I knew it has been a problem. Id rather he deal with it now than the third game of the season where its INDEED a problem.
can you imagine peyton, dwight and bobs reaction to them hearing they wont be effective this year because they wont be taking part in all of the preseason.
to be honest after the last few years of teams losing their best players to season ending injury I dont think this is all bad. preseason scares me and mostly its too long. getting rest may be the best prevention to your team winning it all come the end. I saw too many teams the last few years with crushing blows of injuries and it seems like the trend isnt ending anytime soon. Im not trying to coverup the fact that our best players have had surgeries but I just think its too much wishful thinking from some of the other teams fans that peyton, bob and dwight wont be at full strength come opening day!
I still think this could be the best colts team ever. I seriously think everybody in the media is underestimating this team. and now even more with the manning news. I hope they keep writing how the chargers vs cowboys superbowl is going to happen and the jags for the 3rd year will take the division. werent the cardinals for about 3 or 4 years touted as this darkhorse, dont be surprised if this team…blah blah blah? after about year 4 its time to pick a new darkhorse

Remaining calm
I understand your point JakeTheSnake about remaining calm, but it’s not like he got his appendix removed. He may not throw with his knees, but knee problems can cut careers short. We all remember what happened to Jake Taylor, as he was one of the best catchers in baseball before his knees started giving out.
My understanding is that the bursa sac acts as a lubrication for joints. It would seem to me that, absent the bursa sac, there would be more grinding on the joint over time, which would lead to greater wear and tear at an accelerated rate. Anyone on here in the medical field that can let us know?

Eep!
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!
That sound you hear? It’s the sound of Colts fans around the globe simultaneously crapping their pants at the idea of Jim Sorgi possibly starting a regular season game.
However, I’m sure Peyton will be fine. As will Bob and Dwight.

Knee Surgery
Jake the Snake is right…remain calm. Peyton had this same procedure done his senior year at Tennessee between the SEC championship game and the Orange Bowl game. Granted they lost the bowl game, but still he was back in time for that, which was about a month after the SEC championship game. I always knew this would come up, again. The only thing I’m surprised about is that he was getting treatment for it back in February and waited until July to have the surgery. Still, he’ll be taking the snaps at 8:15pm on September 7th.
