Dumb, but I couldn't help it

Not bad
Although I think the Bears, Chiefs and Falcons will all be worse than the Raiders or Dolphins.

I think the Phins will be a surprise team this year. They’ve got good running backs. Beck will improve. The defense should be noticably better from last year. I think they could not finish last in the East.

My Gripes
Miami will be better, but will probably still be last in AFC East. The Vikings will most definitely make the playoffs over the Eagles. I actually think they will win the North, with at least one NFC wildcard coming out of that division. I also look for a new team to take the NFC West but I am not going to say who. I look for the Broncos, Bengals, Bucs, and Titans to take decent sized steps back. Look for the Texans, Phins, Raiders, and Saints to step it up.

It's Tavaris
He’s never going to be an accurate passer and despite what the announcers say the passing game is a bigger part of winning than running.

you have the top 3- colts, pats, chargers and then its a crap shoot after that. the jags could go 12-4 or 8-8. dont be surprised if thats the team that takes the tumble this year. too many question marks from their garbage F.O. pickups of recievers along with their own little collection of failures and injured ones. their d to me has alot of question marks as well. the stroud absence makes this d just average. good luck with expecting rookies to bring this d up. they have a great running game and then its a many question team. cleveland, philly, pitt, the vikings could all do the same. could be a playoff team or a .500 team.
I think too many people are underestimating the colts even with the tough schedule and marvin harrison back in the lineup. if he is truely back and I believe he is. to predict the number of wins and the actual games they will win is foolish because one never knows the circumstance before each and every game. but I think this colts team could be very special. the chargers are in the colts seat of a few years ago with the choke label and that could be very dangerous as well. the pats. the offense is still outstanding but that schedule is a joke. cant imagine the colts with that schedule.

Many points of failure in this post.
First, though I agree that the WR acquisitions are reaches, this is the same offense that pushed the Colts and Pats. Since nothing has been lost on offense that would warrant concern, your reference pretty much states there won’t be improvement on an offense that was at best efficient. If I had to worry it would be the loss of Wilford as a solid possession WR. In contrast, you don’t seem concerned at all over the potential of Harrison recovering from injury at his age.
Second, I also agree that too much is being made out of the rookie DEs and their need to have an immediate impact yet Freeney sure changed the landscape fo the Colts D. The potential is there. With Stroud out the D still managed to be effective and what you fail to mention is that Jax now has enough depth at secondary to close up some lanes. Mathis, Williams, Florence and Nelson have great upside. You didn’t even mention the depth at LB. The D has the least question marks.
The biggest question mark fo the Jags will be whether Garrard was a one hit wonder. If he can continue to be the field general he showed last season the Jags will utilize solid ball control offense with an efficient passing attack.
Simply put, this is not a very objective opinion.
I understand your need to approach the Jags with a glass half full mentality but at least be honest. Do I think the Jags will take the division? Absolutely not. Manning is still Manning. Wayne is stil Wayne. Clark is still Clark. (I’m sure you see where I’m going.) Much like Jax the Colts have no considerable loss from a team that was dominant last year. The Jags still miss the explosiveness required, I believe, to take it to the next level.

Wild Shot
I’m going to take a wild shot and say that the Vikings are not going to be as good as everyone thinks. They might perk up if Favre happens to end up there, but even then I’m calling them a fluke team. Flashes of brilliance, but not quite together. Another wild shot is that the Chargers will not win their division. This is a team that’s going to be inconsistent all year and fall apart at some point.
OK, ready for your replies. :-)

Good Take
If the QB position doesn’t mature I can’t see the Vikes being the playoff team some think they will be. However, if the defense gets better this could be a Ravens like team which is very scary.
SD is such a wild card. I can’t help but watch Rivers and think he is on the brink of a meltdown. SD is a very good team but the risk\reward seems the highest for them.

Browns 20th???
Texans, Bengals …ahead of the Browns? Browns are a top 10 team.

Some why's
Anderson wasn’t an accurate passer last year even with good weapons and a solid line. Jamal Lewis is very old. The D wasn’t very good and won’t improve much. They added two D-linemen, but Rodgers is fat and lazy and they had to trade away an elite CB (though he had a down season) in Leigh Bodden.

browns are definitely better than 20th.
leigh bodden an elite CB? common
Everyone said lewis was old last year, hes still got some miles in the tank
The jury is still out on Anderson

sorry but the jags d was swiss cheese last year…see bradys last game against them. FA pickups are crapshoots plain and simple. this d could still be swiss cheese and you cant convince me that picking up stevie wonder williamson and a whiney and hurt porter is going to change this team or bring it over the top. they got rid of the one reciever they could count on, wilford. the jags basically are getting this assumption of a good record because of their running game. they were superior and that got them 11 wins. but their d still has many question marks and Im just not buying that because they finished with 11 wins last year they are automatically going to improve. garrard is still going to have to prove he can do more than throw a screen pass or dump off like last year. Im still sticking by my statement that the this team still could go anywheres from 8-8 to 12-4. just like the 10-6 browns and other teams like the vikings who nobody has a clue how they actually will finish. see the giants of last year. to just insinuate that a team is going to have the same record or better because their running game is really good is silly

You still didn't make a case
I admitted that the FA WR’s were questionable so I’m not clear as to why you think I’m trying to convince you of anything. You didn’t even have Wilford in your original comment. I admitted that Garrad needs to prove he isn’t a 1 hit wonder. You didn’t even bring that up initially. The question mark for the D is whether the young DEs will be able to give the Jags a pass rush: that is it. You didn’t address the improvements at DB. You didn’t address the depth at LB. If the Jags had success w\o Stroud why now is his absence now a liability?
You’re more than welcome to your opinion but it simply isn’t very well supported. 11th rated D in the league (1 ahead of the Colts). 40 fewer YPG than the Colts. 35 fewer passing YPG than the Colts. 5 fewer rushing YPG than the Colts. 2 more points per game than the Colts. If the Jags are swiss cheese was does that, therefore, make the Colts? The Jags D was not swiss cheese last year and pointing to the Pats game as an indication is disingenuous. The scheme didn’t work because a 4 man rush is simply not going to work.
I stand by my position that your opinion is less than objective.

I believe both the Vikings and Jags will not live up to expectations. And why would you want those expectations to begin with? Way too high for both those teams.

ridiculous
Cowboys are by far and away the best team in the NFC and easily in the same class as the Pats and Colts.
Rating them 7th, especially behind the Favreless Packers is a complete joke.
and don’t give me this crap about not winning a playoff game in 12 years, that means absolutely nothing when ranking teams in terms of power and strength. The Cowboys have an all pro at almost every position.
