Peter King claims...
Brett Favre wants to return to the NFL. Well, that didn't last long. Though I must say, I always liked watching him play so I wouldn't mind seeing him come back.
Here's the link: Favre returns...maybe

What are
folks thoughts on Favre coming back? If Manning did this, would we be pissed?

I think the fans would love to have him back, and would have a difficult time fathoming him with a different team. But what’s best for the Packers right now is to let Rogers take over. Trade Favre and try to trade him to a non-division team, non-conference if possible.
As a Colts fan, I can’t see (and don’t want to) Manning playing for any other team. In typical fan perspective, I want him w/us as long as possible, even if that is ultimately not what is best for the team in the long term. Blind homerism tells me it is what’s best.
Michael Silver compares this situation to the one the 49ers and their fans had when Montana went to KC. It’s a good article, but I like his writing so maybe I’m biased.

The wishy washy retire-unretire
stuff is why people are mad at Favre and what I would hate if Manning did.
Favre was a top 5 QB last year (5th DVOA, 3rd DYAR) with the performance he has every right to come back and the Packers should welcome him. But if he hadn’t been so unclear about his retirement plans they could have used their 2005 first rounder on someone who would have helped the team more than a clipboard holder.
You ain't gotta have John Madden, You ain't gotta have Dick Vitale,
You ain't gotta Lee Corso, You ain't gotta have Stuart Scott,
You ain't gotta have Linda Cohn, Know what I'm talking bout,
You ain't gotta have the staff of ESPN
You ain't gotta have ABC staff just to talk sports baby, cuz I got game

The Packers have a better chance at winning a championship with Favre than without him.
Go Colts!
