Roster cuts: T.J. Rushing to IR, and done for the year
T.J. Rushing had a strong camp and was solidifying himself as the Colts' kick and punt returner. However, he got injured in the game last Sunday with the Bills, and he was placed on IR, ending his season. TE Zac Herold was also placed on IR. tough break for both, especially T.J. He made big strides from last year to this year, and was looking to really break out as a CB and a KR.
Also, The Lawn Wrangler seems to have compiled the list of players cut. So far, RB Clifton Dawson, LB Marcus Richardson, and K Adam Crossett are not on the active roster anymore.
We also know that Jeff Saturday is looking for a second opinion on his knee, which he hurt against the Bills. That's not good. Tip to peytonisthebest for finding the link.

Returns
Big blow to the return game, Rushing was pretty solid. Now I wonder who we have returning kicks and punts? Will they put Rhodes back at the return spots? Of the guys on the roster, I think he’s the only one on the roster who has NFL return experience, and the last year he returned kicks, he was less than stellar.
Of course, there always seems to be some random rookie WR or DB who will come in and return, but still, I wonder.

Bogus
TJ Rushing was a decent returner at best, preseason success against rookies trying to make their team’s by proving themselves at ST is not the same as being consistently effective in regular season games. We have many other options returning kicks and punts who I believe bring more overall value to the team at their respective positions and possibly as returners as well.

If Rushing was solid
Wilkins was a pro bowler. ;)

On IR
Please clarify: if a player is on IR at this point of the season, is he still on the team but not one of the 53 on the final roster? And when on IR, are they able to return to the 53 player roster before the end of the regular season or the playoffs? Until this season this situation hadn’t seemed as important as it does now.

IR
They are done for the regular season and playoffs. They do not count against the 53 man roster. They cannot play football, period, until next season.

Thanks BBS
That is what I thought, but wanted to be sure. In the mean time I’m keeping an eye out for the official cut list story.

Ratliff
He now has a guaranteed roster spot. So that leaves us with Jackson, Hayden, Jennings, Hughes, Ratliff, and…..Brandon Foster? I haven’t really notice him do anything during preseason, but it looks like he’ll have to stick.
With the WR’s, it’s going to come down to Roby and Aroma. Hall is not getting cut, bottom line.

KR/PR WR's
Considering how many different WR’s we used for kick returner’s during the Bills game, it would seem we’ll keep an extra WR for that position. Should be interesting to see who it is. I’m sure we’ll do the same in the Bengals gane to determine the winner.

Official cut-list info here
http://www.colts.com/sub.cfm?page=article7&news_id=cbb87468-74e8-4deb-91f4-90f6512b8450. Looks like Lawn Wrangler was on top of this ahead of everbody else. Great Job!

Phil B is slow
I read and heard all of that on colts.com at least 30 mins. before his post, and I would have caught it sooner if I hadn’t had to be on the phone. Indystar should be first to post this info, they are the hometown paper.

Ehh
I’m still at work, so my ability to check is limited. Just happened to check Phil before Colts.com – actually googled and he came up.

Don't feel bad PTB
You did good. I’ve been watching releases all day. I just think Our hometown paper should be THE FIRST to break any news. I shouldn’t have to search anywhere else to get ANY info on the Colts. It disappoints me to have to search everywhere on th web to find out anything.

Saturday
although losing a 2 time pro bowler on the O-line is a huge blow to the colts, i think we’ll be alright without him. come on, we drafted 3 centers in the draft. at least one of them can step up.

Keep in mind
How good our o line and in general our starting offense look when Manning is not there.
Thats all you need to know. ;}

Just once
Can we get a good returner? I like Roby to be honest.
Garcon might win the job but meh.
Rushing was also meh.

He was very good on punts
below average on kickoffs. He wasn’t flashy at all, which is why he gets labeled/is “meh”

Punts
We will not punt this year so that does not help the team. ;)
I kid…….

I don't want to panic...
however, the reason our offense is wicked good is because of timing. Peyton’s timing with his WRs, RBs, Jeff Saturday… We’ve all seen Peyton’s chicken dance before snap…it will take time for a new center to come in and interpret it to the rest of the line…
That’s what my concern is. I think it can be done, but there will definitely be an adjustment period.
